I got this shitty virus disguised as .scr (screensaver) file, it duplicates files in c:\windows\system, so i deleted them inDOS
when i reopened windows it had to locate EVERYTHING, which i couldnt do. I eventually opened everything in an MS-DOS prompt, but when i click on icons/applications in explorer it comes up with the "open with..." window.
for example: if i was to click on 'explorer.exe' is would say "click the program you want to use to open the file 'EXPLORER.EXE'
If the program you want is not on the list click Other" but when i find explorer to open it with, it doesnt work.... nothing works
does ANYONE have some ideas to give? please please please!

here is a description and a fix for your registry. At the bottom of the page is a link to download a .reg file. Download and double click on it, then reboot and you should be fine (IF the virus/trojan is really gone!)

Norton Antivirus is the biggest scam in computing history. I can't believe what a fetid pile of shit it is. It's reasonably good at detecting viruses and trojans in files but it can't do a damned thing to keep you from getting infected and damaged, and it isn't worth shit for repairing damage and removing viruses.
Not to mention the fact that it slows and destabilizes your computer to a degree that should inspire class action lawsuits.
Right now the best antivirus product is Nod32. Try it, you'll like it. I've installed it lots of places and never had a single infection or stability problem. It's reasonably priced efficient software written by people who give a shit and know what they're doing.

They should be paying me money for my promotion. :-)
After Thunderbyte turned into Norman antivirus (and made the software difficult to download or purchase) I gave up on them and started looking for something else. I noticed that nod32 was practically 100% in the tests here so I gave it a try and have been a fanatical zealot ever since.
