I used to like the olden days of drum and bass, now it is all shite. I liked the No U Turn album Torque, the old Ed Rush & Optical singles, before that I have to confess to liking the jump up shit coming out of Suburban Bass. Basically I like most drum and bass before the "Tech Step" sound was adopted by people with no talent.

Don't forget Photek's awesome Dark Drum 'n' Bass production.
Yeah, I like some dnb here and there.
Plug's - Drum 'n' Bass for papa and Jega's - Spectrum were some awesome releases.

I think Drum & Bass is a perfect music style to give it all on the dancefloor. I used to mix D&B and really was into it. But it?s sad that so many producers release tracks that just all sound the the same. I mean 2,5 Minutes Intro - Drop - Mainpart - Brigde - Mainpart. This music runs in more solid cuffs than Blues or ragga.
I think Drum & Bass is dead now, cause no groundbreaking tracks are released nowadays. IMO everthing that can be done in this boundaries is done. (See the big wave of OldShool Remixes and ReReleases 3 years ago)

oh i forgot dom and roland. *hangs head in shame* isnt it strange how people like grooverider seemed to start the dnb(well jungle at the time) movement away from (happy)hardcore. but now just plays "tech step" crap. loads of people are destroying drum and bass with songs like shyfx t power shake your body and addicted to bass, which to me seem far too 'poppy'. why dont you ever hear ray keith on TOTP? eh? plus as i already mentioned american dnb is rubbish too:)

the best DnB song ive heard is 'eels' by the 'mint gun club'..then they changed their name to 'mint royale' and started making crap party songs. true story.

I agree. D&b artists feel that they have to bring out a new track every day to stay on top, but that is (imo) what is killing the scene, because everything is rushed and the have no time to sit and think of new ground breaking ideas.
They need to chill like that beer that can only be drunk when its ready.

There should be released other Stuff than just Dance 12"es with the same scheme everytime. Like Goldies Timeless LP. That D&B to the core but still listenable at teatime AND has clubtunes on it. That is the direction Id like D&B to go.
My favourite LP is whatever happend to by Hidden Agenda.
