I'm not trying to say that TR is a bad idea for doing the
music for DooM ]|[, he did a fucking great job with the
music and sfx for Quake, but I reckon that RDJ could have
done a REALLY FUCKING good job for the soundtrack of DooM
]|[

Does anyone else agree?

I mean after all, he is kinda affiliated with computer
games, so I think he might have enjoyed doing it

yeah,.. he probably would have made silly sound effects
though,

yeah, he probably would have made silly sound fx (although,
i reckon he might have taken it a bit more seriously, so who
knows)

but the music/ambient soundtrack would have been amazing

after hearing Gwarek2 i immediately thought to myself "he
should have done the soundtrack for DooM ]|[!"

i reckon he would have done a great job

I would like it if he did a movie soundtrack,.. simply
because it would be themed, kinda like saw 85 92, or RDJ
album,.. how they are kinda from the same gene, and have
this cool "feel/motif" about them

i don't know much about this, but i read somewhere that
Chris Cunningham is working on his own film, and it would be
great if RDJ did something for that

i reckon it could possibly be overkill if he did the WHOLE
soundtrack

maybe if it was mixed with other stuff, it'd be cool though
:)

i just can't believe that TR is NOT doing the sfx for DooM
]|[ aswell as the music

I reckon that's gonna make it sound really weird...

I am really fucked off though because I'm probably never
gonna have the privilige of playing it - I don't own or know
of anyone who owns a worthy enough system to run it!

Maybe one day...in like 2029!

the quake soundtrack was great, it fitted really well into
the game. i don't think aphex twin would be best suited to
this type of thing.

i reckon he would musically

Gwarek2 had a brilliant atmosphere....it's most probably the
scariets piece of soundscaping i've ever heard

but that's my opinion

Atleast one of them is I know for sure...the rest I dont
know who...but still that has to be the best distorted
guitar solos I heard in a game.

Trent Reznor's a better choice. It's the only way to get
Trent to do anything!

Dont know..a senseof humour is an essential Ingredient of
RDJ of late (barring SAWII)...
and Doom series doesnt exactly leave room for humour...

yeah, but what i mean is that i think RDJ knows when to be
humorous and when to be serious

i think he'd spend a lot of effort into doing something like
this

you..thisis where I disagree..theshifts in histones and
moods is kindasporadic and unpredictable..andhis music is
all the better for it...sometimes a single song displaying a
range of..anger..sadness, goofy romanticism..and sheer
goofyness..

54 Cymru Beats...Meltphace..Taking Control..come to mind

yeah but i'm on about Gwarek2

that track is just pure atmosphere

if he did stuff like that for the game it'd be great

he could do an awesome

RACE CAR (type game)

not grand theft auto bull shit or anything like that... i
just think something with racing in it would be bad ass!! :)

i'm anxious to hear what TRENT comes up with. he's awesome.

RDJ is cool too.......but why worry about what might have
been when we have TRENT originals to look forward too. it's
about time something new came out as well!

I dunno, TR does know how to make a tune, and he knows how
to pick 'em as well, he picked some really appropriate
tracks for Natural Born Killers :)

yes Gwarek2 would sound brilliant. it would work really well
with a game like that and scare the shit out of little 10
year olds playing it in the dark hehehe

so is the quake soundtrack ambeint in the true sense of the
word?

no drums or heavy guitars?

i somehow remember guitars?

i cant remember but im sure the quake soundtrack had guitars
in it. not quite sure if ambient is the word to describe it.
maybe grunge ambient??i dunno

ambience AND hard rock guitars. trent's doing the score and
leading the sound design. i don't know if you listen to nin
or not but trent's music varies a lot in style and he pulls
off everything like a true musical genius.

er, wait... you say doing, as in present and/or future
tense

im talking about the original quake score... whats that one
like?

Im just in a real ambient mood, so I was wondering what it
was like.

i was referring to people's expectations/conjecture on the
Doom III project he's working on.

the quake soundtrack is lush. for $10 you can get the game
and the whole soundtrack (as audio cd tracks). it's like
industrial ambient. SAW2 meets nin kinda.

sweet!

ill have to look into that

its availible on Mac right?

Do you think it would be a problem if i got the PC
version... would it still play the tracks?

I kinda want to get the version I cant play... seeing as Ill
probably get addicted to it, and never study.

How would you rate the soundtrack 1-10 scale?

distorted ambient, has some weird world music feel to it at
times

can play normal cds

as Refund said, the music is cd audio so it'll play in any
stereo or discman
however you should pick up the game too (on a format that
works for you) cos the sound design is cool.. ok a little
dated now (1996) but still awesome

i dont think ive ever played the single player game.

I played online with my friend alot in 9th grade... but I
dont think I had the music on... or maybe just a few times.

So he did like, the sounds of the gunfire and all that
stuff?

thats pretty cool.

quake's the most recent cd-rom game i've played as well..
i'll check out Doom III tho simply cos trent worked on it. i
find games "fun" but rarely addictive or too interesting or
involving.

yea he did the sounds of the game.. doors opening, guns
firing, etc.

bleak imagery and soundtrack. Think second bad vibel by

Well if the soundtrack to Doom III were done by Richard and
it sounded anything like his DJ Set on Thursday, it would be
the alltime greatest game soundtrack! The Energy, fuck me!
