anyway.. just listened to it..

I like the beat and the beginning.. not a big fan of the
melody, or actually the sounds you use to play the melody
with.. a bit too predictable with a beat like that.. HOWEVER
- I did like the sounds when they got more harsh and
"finger-round-glass"-y at the end.. gives it some balls, if
you'll pardon my french..

just out of curiousity: have you ever released any of your
music? I think a lot of it would be more than good for it.

thanks :)

no I have never released anything..I want to send out
demos...but the prospects of rejection keep holding me
back...I am a bit scaredy like that..but thanks for saying
that:)

*prepares to attempt to write something that's almost
slightly worth reading
uuuuurgh
It happened again where the first 30 seconds are super hyper
wickedly mad and then some element resembling a loop lessens
it a bit.
ummmmm...
When I heard autechre's ep7 for the very first time, there's
no way I could fully comprehend it all, aesthetically, so I
wonder if repeated listens would reveal a much deeper aural
aesthetic in this.
hmm... what else...
fritos changed their motto, I noticed. I'm glad cuz "I know
what i like and I like fritos corn chips" was so retarded..
and also, generally, I suggest more of the more subtle
humble softer type sounds and less of the super amplified
agresso bursts.

I am afraid it doesnt have the depth..you speak of..repeat
listens might reveal the same things in a grating fashion..

me likey

although, it seemed alittle thin. felt like it needed more
bottom, or just filled up more. know what im saying?

but overall, very nice :)

Is using large but compressed beats as single percussiony
units a major technique of yours?

offline Bremzen from utrecht (Netherlands, The) on 2002-11-20 01:53 [#00449085]
Points: 653 Status: Lurker

listening to it now (spiny murex1).
i really like the sounds you use for the beats. they have a
lot of ehm... detail. it's not overdone, it has just enough,
and that i like:)
i agree with qrter that the sounds for the "melodies" you
use are not very special, or maybe too predictable even,
although the sounds in which they evolve are very good imo.
generally, i think it's a nice, simply, very well composed
track.

Hello again, Flea. :)

Well, I liked the floating melodic sounds, but I didn't care
so much for the beat, except for the bass drum you used.
Something about that, I liked. Thumpy. I don't think it's
bad by any means.

You should do what these people say and send out demos. If
they reject you, big deal. Some of your tracks are better
than some signed artists' imo.

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-11-20 10:42 [#00449530]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

*note: i listened to the track last night, and Duh... my
bass was turned off, not to bother the neighbors, so ill
listen to it again when I get home, and perhaps the "lack of
bottom" problem will be solved :)

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-11-20 10:46 [#00449535]

yeah man, definatly send out demos

to everyone!

lately ive been realizing that the worst thing you can do is
pass up an oppertunity. It will haunt you.

There are only two things that can happen...
1. you get signed
2. you dont get signed, which is no change from now, so its
not like it will be worse then before you sent it.

if they say its "utter crap" or something, fuck them. Dont
let them get you down. Just keep doing it, cause you love
it. But also, maybe they will give good advice, and itll
help you understand things you didnt notice before.

Yes, demos man, send them.

yes ive been said all sort of things on my art (drawings and
writing) some good and bad stuff from graphists, but also
some nice thanx and advices from magazines, even if they
couldnt publish my short stories or so...
dont pay much attention to critics if they is any, its only
a feeling...not everybody could love ur music, it doesnt
mean its bad, just that people see things different ways
than each other!
:)

great track! I really liked it. Never heard any of your
other stuff, but this was really good!

I'm surprised of the abstract titles though :-) From what
i've read of your posts on this board, you always seem very
uhm... "politically concerned"? (can't really think of the
right english words)... but i mean, i would have expected
the songtitles to make some comments about president bush
and things like that ;-)

I don't see the logic, I guess...

yeah, flea is very 'aware', but that doesn't mean it has to
permeate everything he does..

well to me that wouldn't seem too illogical. Everything that
concerns me (things that happen to me, or just stuff i find
interesting/important) always seem to naturally end up in my
"art" (i don't do music, but in my drawings and writings). I
don't even think about it, it just happens.

I guess this is just a difference in personalities :-)

I can see your point too though... strictly speaking this
type of music and politics have nothing to do with each
other.
