Found out about this contest where the prize is that
you get to be Amon Tobin's opening-act during his 2
belgian tourdates. (and also talk about his music (and your
own) with the man himself)

Since i'm not a dj, i thought i might aswell share this
information ;-) (otherwise i would have told no-one in order
to highten my own chances of winning, lol!). It's all in
dutch, but i won't bother translating since i doubt any
non-dutch-speaking persons would be able to claim the prize
anyway.

hun) muziek. En vermits beide shows gegarandeerd uitverkocht

contacteren.

you reach people out a finger... and they grab your entire
hand ;-)

Ok Ok, i'll be translating, give me a couple of minutes. But
if you're gonna win, you have to promise you'll actually
make the trip to belgium :-p

Ei deejay, mak mo da 't bust
(i have no idea what this means... belgian humor probably
:-p)

Win an exclusive dj-set with Amon Tobin

Two beginning dj's will win to be the "opening-act" for one
of Amon Tobins belgian shows (in the AB on november 29th /
in MOD on november 30th). On this occasion they'll also be
able to talk in depth with the man himself about his (and
maybe their own) music. And because both shows will
guaranteed be completely sold out (the show in AB already
is!) the evening will be the experience of a lifetime for
the lucky winners.

And, as if that isn't enough, both of them will also win the
entire Amon Tobin prize-packet that we're giving away (his
new cd, a signed version of the album on vinyl + some
stickers and stuff), plus a Ninja Wak-jacket and a Ninja
Wak-sweater. (maybe they mean Ninja Tune here).

How to enter?

Young and unknown deejay-talent have to send in their
mixtape (or CD-R) before november 20th to the adress below.
Amon Tobin himself will pick his two favourite dj's from all
the entries.

Demands: a mix from 30' to 60', with atleast 1 track from
Tobins latest album, and with also the entire tracklist of
the tape written out. And ofcourse information for how to
contact them in case they've won.

I've always thought it'd be lush to get a normal gig in a
regular trance/house nightclub then mid-set start playing
autechre, merzbow etc. You'd never work again ;)

haha i'm not sure if any non-finnish or swedish people know
how it is like on those boats between helsinki and
stockholm. but my secret plan is to take over the disco
there and start playing some autechre, afx etc.

shame... but yeah... it would be a problem if you don't have
the latest album, since it's one of the rules of the contest
:-/ Bad luck.

You are wrong about rem though :-p They surely do not belong
in the "absolutely crap music"-category ;-)

Well that's my opinion anyway.

ok.... i just find his voice fucking whiney and moany and
"Everybody Hurts" is the most depressingly banal song
ever!!!

i like "man on the moon" though

i love his voice... very moving and emotional. One of my
favorite voices. It's all a matter of taste i suppose.

I do agree their upbeat-songs are usually the best (i prefer
man on the moon over everybody hurts aswell)... but then
again, i still do love everybody hurts ;-)
