Best price I found was amazon.com - $26 (and free shipping)
so I got it there. Very tempting to get it at a store
though, to watch it right away.

bestbuy was 24.99 (plus free shipping)
+ 10.50 coupon for the sequel!!!

ehhehe......i'm buying it today....i had them set aside a
copy this AM.

i'm anxious to see it 30 hours of stuff dood.......that
should keep us busy.

i'm actually loaning it next week to my bf, cos he's not
seen it. so i prolly won't see any of the extras till he's
done.

it's ok.....i'm patient, but i'll check out what the
packaging has.

Good find!

My friend is buying the "mega-platinum" special edition (or
whatever it's called), and I'm going to nick the extra
National Geographic Special behind the scenes disc off him
to see if it's any good.

hahah.....i thought about getting it. it's $34.99 at bestbuy
this week. but i don't want the bookends, and the trading
cards but i DO wanna see the National Geo show. the
packaging is so bulky and i don't have the room for it, so
....yadda yadda

let me know how it is. =0)

just so you know....every tues bestbuy has all the new dvd's
that are released at really great prices through saturday of
that same week. they have free shipping and no minimum
number of stuff to buy. PLUS if you order on line you get
sent 5 dollar coupons to use on your next on-line purchase.

as my bf says.....best buy......worst service!

Customers who shopped for this item also wear:

Clean Underwear from Amazon's Eddie Bauer Store
Ladybug Rain Boots from Amazon's Nordstrom Store
Suede Headwraps from Amazon's International Male Store
Cheetah Print Slippers from Amazon's Old Navy Store

um, glad that they have clean underwear, but otherwise
that's TMI

Those Bookends look a bit "Franklin Mint" to me...:)

I should imagine they'll be gracing many a mantlepiece (next
to those Star Trek commerative plates & Farscape
figurines...)...

hehe...I shouldn't mock, I know....

Anyone fancy a game of D&D?...

MAAAAAAAAN! I just finished watching it and yea the extended
scenes are AWESOME and so are the deleted scenes but it
isn't 3 and a half hours long! it's only 3!! at the end of
the movie I checked how much time was left and it said a
half hour and I thought to myself COOL!! they're gonna show
and extra half hour of the movie!! but NO it's a half hour
of credits of the fruits who paid 150 bucks last year to get
their name in the credits!!!! hahahaah how lame is THAT!?

the film.

i have my $10.50 coupon for the TWO TOWERS in my wallet, i
have to use it by the end of the year.....that means my 4

I watched the director's cut last night. It's even better
for fans of Tolkien. Even so, it was probably a good idea
that the extra scenes were cut for the regular release,
except for the gifting scene at Lothlorien. Some of the
gifts are pretty important in the rest of the story, so I
wonder how they will explain them later.

The credits were insane. 5 minutes of "real" credits and 20
minutes of "fan credits." ok...

Now onto the extras ... :-)

disc???

I have to exchange my dvd! on the first disk when chapter 13
starts it starts pausing and does so every once and a while
after.

edition of FotR that came out - it was one of the hooks for
buying it!

so I exchange my dvd today and the dvd I get back has the
same problem! when I went to exchange it I asked if people
were bringing em back cause of problems and I was told yes!
it's with the first disk... so I called another big store to
see if they were having problems too and they told me out of
the 650 they sold 18 have come back due to problems, but the
other store said it was with the second disk b'oh! I have to
return this dvd ONE MORE TIME!

shite...........you're kidding me.....i wanted to see the
trailer......waaaaaah

i mean i've seen it only once at the movies. grrrrrr

that sucks.

ok.....my paused a couple of times......for less than 1/2 a
second....i wonder if i should take it back or just accept
it. only did it twice as i could recall.....hummmmmm

jj.....was the pausing very noticable for you .... or just a
split second? maybe my problem isn't as bad?

whaley.....did you have any problems??

offline Jimmy James from Burnaby (Canada) on 2002-11-18 18:16 [#00447103]

some of my dvd's pause when the dvd is switching layers I
think? it says that on most dvds, but this is WAY BEYOND
just a slight pause! my dvd player basicly chokes and you
can hear it stop and then go again! it happens more then
once with me and when I got this new one I went straight to
the chapter (it's actually chapter 12 not 13) and it paused
in the same place.

i'm checking mine in a moment......but i did NOT have that
problem.....just a slight stilling of the picture....it was
noticable but not more that a split second.

thanks for the heads up tho.....cos i'm gonna examine it
more carefully and make sure and keep the receipt. just in
case i need another copy.

thanks for describing your problem....

That pause is normal, it's the transition between layers on
the discs. There should be one pause on each disc. On some
players it's more noticeable than others. Mine is worse than
some other discs that I have, but not too bad.

no problem! after chapter 12 it happens maybe 5 or 6 times
but disk 2 is fine.... Im just pissed I have to take it back
AGAIN! I guess I'll wait a week till they get a new batch

Yeah that's one of my favourite characters too! Bombadil Tom
is a cool guy.

Ad they also left out the things what happened after they
left Bombadil. The hobbits were trapped in some kind of
tombs. Then theycalled for Tom, and he saved them. THat was
the place where Merry picked up that sword which will kill
the Nazgul boss (in RotG). How will Jackson explain it I
have no idea. The hobbits only have regular swords now, what
they got from the Strider.
We will see in one year. That's not a long time if you
consider the Earth is some billion years old. :-)

There are ancient kings buried in the tomb, who vowed to
kill the Witchmaster (boss of nazguls). THey even had the
magic sword which can do the task, since ordinary weapons
can't harm those shadow kings.
Merry gets one of those swords.

Pretty creepy stuff, eh? :)

btw it is a special TTT trailer. 4:30 long and pretty good.
lot of spoilers in it, so it is good for me having it only
after I have seen TTT.
