I heard someone mention this somewhere on the board, can't remember where though. I just bought 'Crushed Velvet Apocalypse' by the Legendary Pink Dots and I lovelovelove it - I've never heard anything else even remotely similar. Would you absolutely recommend that I pick up 'Tanith...'(assuming it isn't/wasn't a limited pressing)? What other Legendary Pink Dots or related music would you suggest that I might like?
-I also just ordered current 93 : the seahorse rears to oblivion; one of my favorite songs of all time, glad to finally see it available in proper format. 48£ is a bit steep for a 3 song vinyl, but there were initially only 150 copies for sale and it comes with a print of an original painting done by David Tibet.

I mentioned Tanith and the Lion Tree calling it the most beautiful album ever...If you are a fan of Edward Ka'Spel's vocals lyrics etc..then yes by all means..it's even more experimental than LPD..but in a very cool way...
i.e it sounds very current and IDMish as oppsoed to LPD's Pink Floydisms...
Crushed Velevet Apocalypse is a great album..I have that as well as "Any Day Now" and "Premonition"..Crushed Velvet is almost like a continuation/culmination of Any Day Now and Premonition...
If you are getting into all of this I also highly recommend Tear Garden which is Half LPD, Half Skinny Puppy/downloads band members..and is extremely cool.."Centre of the Bullet" and "The Last Man to Fly" are very close to Legendary Pink Dots..only a slight more emphasis on Wigged out Electronics (courtesy of Cevin Key)

'Current and IDMish' What do you mean? That description makes it sound sort of sterile and colorless..
I have heard of Tear Garden, I'll have to give them a listen some time. Thanks for the recommendations.

Mmm... Edward Ka-Spel. This is one of the best bands I've heard in a while, can't stop listening to Just a Lifetime. Those neat classical keys, whatever they're called.
Ka-Spel and the Dots each have their own MP3.com page. Now that's a superstar band.

I'm going put an order in for LPD's 'The Maria Dimension' and 'Nemesis On-line' at Strangefortune sometime soon.. I wonder why it took me so long to discover this band. Even The Wire rarely ever mentions them which seems strange given all the other obscure artists they cover i.e. Coil, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, Volcano the Bear, Christoph Heeman, etc.
Ophecks, download 'Princess Coldheart' and 'The Pleasure Palace' - Two more of my favorite songs off of Crushed Velvet Apocalypse.
