Anyone as miserable as me these days? If so, what's causing
your misery? How are you dealing with it?

not at the moment
but in the summer i went into a badass depression for two
weeks.
during that time i never did anything but stay in my room
all day.
and i never seemed to sleep.
even my best friends were afraid to do anything with me
because they knew i might freak out at anytime.
crazy times.

now sometimes i'll go into depressions that last a couple
days but then they'll go away.

i usually deal with it by listening to music and talking to
people

I'm a pizza delivery driver, my car is unreliable, breaks
down all the time, that is stressful, I need to look for a
new job because of this, I'm 17 and live in a share
accomodation house, losing my job means I'm out on the
streets,

*stress,stress,stress,stress.

I'm unbearably depressed right now, more than usual... I
have no motivation, skipping classes, doing poorly... fuck,
I had all the time in the world to study for my psych test
today, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Just lots of
music and moping... I bet I barely passed it, by like a
hair.

i've been pretty depressed for a while now (6 years or so.)
It's really sucks...little by little i've stopped doing the
things i used to love, i just don't have the energy or will
to do anything anymore. i go to class everyday, then lock
myself in my room and do pretty much nothing. this
messageboard is really the only contact i have with other
people. i wish i knew how to change things, but i guess it
becomes "normal" after time. i've never been good with
dealing with it, so i can't really give you much
advise...hopefully you can work it out.

I hear you man. Nothing can depress you like being in school
and not getting around to doing your fucking work. This one
time it was especially bad, I was cutting classes and lying
to my mom and girlfriend about it, staying up late, sleeping
late... I thought I was headed for a fucking nervous
breakdown. I was starting to twitch and talk to myself.

You just have to kick yourself in the nuts and make yourself
do it. Always, always, always, no matter how lazy you are,
you will find that it's easier than it seemed not anywhere
near as bad as not doing it.

Go! Now! Do! Even if it's just for a hour or less, do
fucking something, build momentum, you'll get things done
and feel better.

I should write a book on how to get by in life without a
significant other. the title could be, masterbation and
friends of the opposite sex. it sums it all up really.

You're totally right... I have two ''huge'' essays coming up
in a couple weeks, and it seems daunting... but I'll
probably finish both of them in two evenings without a
problem. Starting on them is so ridiculously hard... and I
always say, ''never again, next time, you're gonna get to
work on them EARLY''... of course that plan never works out.

Here's a real interesting tip that seems to work for me...

sleep deprivation

I mean just sleep 5 - 5 1/2 hours a night. Don't knock it
until you try it.

offline earthleakage from tell the world you're winning on 2002-10-29 21:04 [#00420910]

depressed people tend to sleep either a lot less or a lot
more than average. also, depressed people's appetite either
increases or decreases substantially.

This time of year always brings about bouts of depression in
me. It must have something to do with the colder air, the
darker days, the upsurgence in school work, and the general
lack of seeing my girlfriend while i'm away at college.
Yes, my fun summer job is gone, i'm in the middle of my
sophomore year, and life looks pretty bleak. Christmas,
which should be a joyous time of year, is always lonely and
empty. And after that there's nothing but frigid weather
and no holiday for months. Now you can probably understand
why summer is my favourite season.

I wish you all the best of luck in dealing with this
difficult time of year. Know that you are loved, and that
you are strong enough to pull yourself through whatever may
come your way.

i seem to just have no motivation these days. i go to class,
and it's like, who gives fuck all? I mean, It doesnt get me
anything, I want INSTANT results dammit! I mean, maybe if
someone would offer me something to pass, like say I pass
all my classes Id get a new PowerMac G4 or something, but
otherwise I dont see how it further betters me at the
moment. So I dont really care. But ah well, fuck it, Ill
just go listen to pulsewidth agian and forget it all......

I think the weather is affecting me too. I go for long walks
everyday and I got used to the sun beating down on me,
seeing blue skies and big fluffy clouds. Now it's cold and
rainy everyday and I can't remember the last time I've seen
the sun or a blue sky, skin's getting pale. Any momentum
I've gathered over the summer has just halted, shifted the
other way. All that on top of other things. Luckily I have
Morrissey helping me out. It seems like no matter what I'm
thinking about or how I feel, he seems to have written a
song about it.

weather definatly affects me

it acctually has a name

S.A.D. (corny eh?) it stands for Seasonal Affective
Disorder. With the changing of the seasons, depression comes
and goes.

Fall and Winter are my bad times.

hasnt started yet... but im sure it will.

But im on meds, so it helps.

Senior year of highschool was the worst. I wasnt on any meds
at the time, although i had been before.

I was so utterly depressed. it was the worst feeling.

I didnt do work, didnt pay attention to anything, even like
a conversation with my friends. I kept fucking up in
ensemble, cause i couldnt focus (which is rare for me...
music is usally the only thing that is constant...)

id come how from school, go straight to my room, and just
cry my eyes out. Id stay there until dinner, and sometimes
id even skip dinner.
Then id go back to my room and just cry more.

Id cry myself to sleep, wake up the next morning, and get
to school late, cause it took so much to convince myself to
go.

Repeat process...

but my mom has depression too, so she knew what was up, and
dragged me to the doc, and got me on meds.

ive been pretty good since then.

i still get generally depressed in fall/winter...

and have my momments at other times...

i also have panic attacks, and they are pretty much year
round though.

and boy, do those suck.

depressed in the summer and the winter; rain and shine...but
when i'm at school and around people it definitely gets
worse.

If your misery is long enough and concentrated enough, it
eventually turns into happiness because it has nowhere else
to go, so don't worry.

that's actually true. sometimes you can subconciously feel
the need to experience bad in order to be able to feel good
later on. makes sense to me anyway.

there is only one massive problem and everyone is too
individually minded to solve it. overpopulation of humans.
this causes a fractal shockwave of problems everywhere.
