Genres are a dime a dozen, even within IDM there's tons of
lame categories.

Wasn't nu-metal, the term, created after IDM, the term?

hmmm....
ya'll are right, the music scene is too convoluted with this
and that terminology to say for sure whether my above
statement is right or wrong

I have no problem with genres
Ok some of them are really retarded but it makes talking
about music easier.
You can say stuff like "Last night i heard a great dub/jazz
fusion band " instead of having to describe everything in
detail.

IDM as a genre is pretty old now right ?
Even "Two Step" was created after IDM ?
I don't know.

IDM is like over 10yrs old....so many many genres since
then, too numourous to mention....

but IDM is one of those ares that encompasses so many
genres...that's why we love it so much, I guess...

Its all too confusing to think about.....

Lets see......
Idm,noise,drill'n'bass,elctro,industrial, techno,minimilist
techno,acid house,trip hop,dub,beat,jungle....etc.
These sort of things are sub-genres IMO.
People just make them up.......

girls playing rock is still rock-.
so electronic music is what all this falls under is pure
electronic music. so basiclly it started with kraftwerk,
right? who else, i mean there were synthesizers before
kraftwerk but the first ones used tape loops, such as the
mellotron.

the newest genre is called vurp skip
its music made out of pork by-products. you can only listen
to it live and at the end of the show your ears are blown
and you reek of human vomit.

coming to a town near you!

I get a kick out of all the subgenres of house... hard
house, deep house, handbag house, speed garage, split level
house with a two car garage, farmhouse, Texas ranch....

*wanks off to genre titles*

if you like the music, great. a rose by any other name would
smell so sweet. just because it does or does NOT have
"glitched out" beats doesn't qualify or disqualify it from
being good music. i swear, some of you are listening to
music like mutes, judging its quality by the artist's name,
what label it's on, and how hip it is to say you like it.
get past any biases and enjoy good music of ALL types.
BELIEVE me, there isn't one type of music that can't be
delved into and enjoyed. bury those stereotypes, guys.

your little box? there're tons of artists who simply defy
classification or blend many genres. what name do you call
this music: "miscellaneous"?

a set just good ears.

but the meaning has since changed
