i just recently started making them for me. it's going to
be a lot of trouble, but i'm sure it is worth it.

does any tronicomian have dreads?
if so, which methods did you find most effective? do you
still have them?

do people judge others if they have dreads?

(you dirty, dirty potsmoking hippie!)

and i really don't like reggae, i just want my hair to be
not-so-troubling :)

Pretend it's part of your religion. It does actually say in
the bible that the only time you should cut your hair is
when you're in mourning :)

I've never had dreads, I think they look a bit gash unless
they are at least shoulder length...

How long is your hair?

I don't know any girls who have dreads, they wouldnt be
prepared to shave their entire heads if they didnt want it!

um..I contemplated having them in the early 90's...but
thought better of it..not to offend anyone but the first
thing you notice about the dreads (the hair not the people)
is the smell..it's an unavoidable by product..and definetly
shapes the opinions of those around you in a not entirely
positive manner

Only know 2 girls who had dreads. It looked okay on both of
them.

Flea: V. true, I imagine it's also a pain not being able to
go swimming/do watersports.

!
hrm. you do have to wash dreads about once a week so they
will not be smelling bad.

Heh, yeah... I know of a few stories of offensive smelling
dreads :-s

i know a few horror stories myself too.

but dreads only start to smell if they get mold, and if they
get mold they are not properly treated.

You can't wash dreads- they come undone. You get this
special talc-like powder you need to rub into them to clean
them...

Ah man, that's the main thing that put me off was thinkining
you couldn't get them wet. Thanks for correcting that
mis-information :)

What's that talc like stuff for if you can just wash them
normally?

you see?..that's the answer basically...

"Neglect

This is the real do it yourself no maintenance method. All
you do is nothing. Maybe wash and wax your hair, just let
your hair do what it's going to do and one day you should
have dreads."

haha! i bet that's how it's MEANT to be done!
