 | Their stuff is just so good. why can't they re-release some of their stuff if not all of it? I mean like take
their old record material and put it to cd. like that
gescom minidisc...i bet that would sell if put to cd. id
 buy it...

 | That would be great...the problem, however, is that Skam is a small record company, with limited resources. The aim for
a small company is to grow. You don't do that by spending
money on re-releasing old stuff, you do that by releasing
 new stuff.

The other problem is that Gescom is more of a collaboration,
not a defined musical entity like Autechre. So there are
different artists involved who worked on different releases.
If it were financially feasible, it might not be
logistically or as far as who has the say on what gets
 released by whom.

See the problem: These releases were MEANT to be limited,
simply by the limitations of the company and artists
involved. If the people involved saw a way to cut a profit
and get noticed by selling thousands upon thousands of these
records, it would have been done.

That's simply not the case. The supply and demand for this
material is a "niche market", i.e. only, at best, a few
thousand who actually would buy it. You think the current
mainstream British music market would want something like
Gescom, when they are clearly geared towards consuming other
 types of music?

No. The reality is that Gescom is a small-time operation
only geared to a particular audience. Chances are, there
will be SOMETHING, but I doubt the entire back catalog will
be re-released. Simply not real for both artists and
 company involved.

 | yeah :(
but a small company is a small company ... there isn't much
 you can do.

and i suppose its for the best that gescom stays
limited..makes it all the more special

 | I know.. but if a cd gets released there won't be a lot of pretty pictures there.. I mean, look at the original
sleeves.. the graphics on the inner circle of the vinyl was
 cool though..

I would buy a cd with rereleased gescom for the better sound
 quality, yes.

 | daweeze,
I would say first check out

 slowdive-just for a day(should be pretty cheap)
 ride-nowhere

if you like these two then by all means explore more but I
myself didn't get really into the shoegazing scene. just a
 few select bands.

 take care
