Reviews say there/he/she (doesn't know) is influenced by
Boards of Canada. Can you hear BOC's style in Mum's music?

it's like glitchy ambient stuff, kind of like BoC i guess.

i started off with FWANO and it's too good, their earlier LP
doesn't have as much singing, which disappointed me. but
it's all really very good. their remix album is awesome,
got 2 mad µ-Ziq mixes.

i think they have their own unique style, although it's fair
to say that there's a bit of BOC influence in their music,
but it's two different sounds in my opinion. both great in
their own way.

everyone is influenced by eachother to some degree from
completely unnoticable to obvious and it can be conscious or
unconsious, and some see more boards in this band than in
that band, or more pink floyd in this group or that group so
it's often fairly subjective. i can see similarities
between boc and mum, but they feel completely different. i
think the people that make these comparisons, like saying
sigur ros is biting radiohead (lol) don't actually feel the
music, but listen to it with inhibitions about really
getting into the emotional/spiritual experience of the
undercurrents, found in between the notes, so to speak.

Both full length albums by mum are wonderful and worth the
money.

in lesser words, but to in fact make more, superficial is
how i would describe the comparisons.

their first lp, "yesterday was dramatic, today is ok" is far
(and i mean FAR) better that "finally we are no one"

wasn't able to imagine mum being great live, but they were.
except you won't be seeing gyda playing her cello with them
cause she's gone :*(
