has anyone here ever DJed as a job?

you know, dances, weddings, and the sort. i've recieved a
few offers. my hardcore raver friend has too much pride to
do anything like this. but, i can make some good quick
money.

any comments, stories?

what kind of music would you spin at weddings?

ps. it doesn't look 'cool' when you bob your head up and
down, head cocked to the right or left holding your
headphones. it just ain't cool at weddings unless the
bride and groom and hipsters.

other than that weddings would be fun to play at.

i spilled coca cola on a turntable that was hooked up to a

Zaphod: you could have used that sound as an instument.
wrecking your equipment at selected intervols would be a
grand idea.

it would be grand had it been my equipment, instead it ended
up costing a grand. tee-hee.

i have djed two local dances, an after football game
dance...

my head nearly exploded from all of the mainstream rap,
hip/hop, pop i had to play. i slip some classic big beat
(the most user friendly of electronic) and the 'gansta' kids
hate it. they also hate underground hip/hop...
blackalicious, latyrx, prefuse, aesop rock, anti pop... etc.

would have been in a fight.

something like...

'damn boy, when you gonna play some good music'

then she did the whole hand diss thing.

I wanted to play venetian snares the rest of the night, but
i ended up playing Nelly & Kelly to keep the masses happy.

if anyone knows how i can get my soul back please let me
know...

i've kept a bit of integrity. this dance ends at midnight,
so each time, regardless of what's playing... at midnight i
play DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World

I think it's the perfect ending song.

a friend of mine dj'ed at a really crappy club. eurotrash
dance music mainly.
so he played along for most of the night and then he decided
to screw em up a bit, ended the set with 54 cymru beats, mt
st michel+st michaels mount and ventolin.
i wish i had been there for that, cuz i'm sure he cleared
out every last person in there.

i think ventolin would be an amazing room clearer... and dog
killer... and anxiety creator...

yeah, but imagine the ending of cymru beats coupled with the
noise barrage of st michel and then ventolin as a closer.
i'd like to see if anyone was left.

if i did that shit, i would make a track just for when shit
got ugly. like it would be all generic hip hop and they be
like awwwyeah dawg! word! you da man! and then it would
quickly morph into a fuckin hardcore vsnares ish shit storm.
and then i'd dump pigs blood on everyone
