well, people are always eager to discuss tragic world
events at this messageboard.. but perhaps only when it
effects us "western" countries?

its a tragic event and i doubt it will have a happy ending.

the reson the topic was started was because people on this
board are like "ohh my god the sniper killed another person
this is awfull bu hu.." but when a couple of hundreds of
russians get taken hostage its like no big deal.. well i
guess its the way it is this days..

earthleakage> i guess you arent affected with all this
killings and stuff, i mean killing is just another animal
instinct we humans posses and should not be repressed,
right? :)

mmm.. hostages have been calling from inside the theatre
saying that the police/army (practically the same thing)
should not try to overpower the terrorists, as they would be
killed.. the terrorists have said that they will kill 10
hostages for every 1 terrorist killed..
I think this will end in a bloodbath..

this is all the result of musicals.

..yeah, i doubt the russians will meet any demands.. they
will probably try to storm the building or something. or
they send in putin to take out the terrorists himself. he is
quite the killer machine from what i have heard.. former KGB
and everything :)

i dont get how they could get 40 armed terrorist in there..
its quite a big operation. seems like they atleast would
have had some indications of this happening. but we will
probably never know. russia dont have any big mediachanels
smothing things over for them..

Well, maybe the Russians should withdraw from Chechnya

yes, but i doubt they will do it because of this.. like the
US used the attack on WTC as an excuse for bigger military
operations in the middel east i think that russia will
probobly want to use this event in a similar way.

it already is a bloodbath from what ive read

the hostages that have been released reported there was lots
of blood everywhere.

apparently the terrorists sole demand is to stop the war in
chechnya

i find my own ignorance concerning the russia-chechnya
conflict quite overwhelming... maybe this action will get
the this conflict into the public debate?
