does anyone know of a program that records the line in on a
PC direct to a file (unlike CoolEdit and similar)?

wavelab, soundforge, or cubase for direct hd recording..
goldwave is free...

Are you talking about WinAMP radio stations? if you want to
know what to use to record those into .wav or .mp3 format, I
can tell ya...

hm i don't think he would like record streams via the line
input, but if so, there are several good stream rippers out

no, not winamp radio stations. just normal radio stations
from my stereo hooked up through the PC's line input.

how is it possible with cubase?
