I've just read that it's possible to make supercollider
programs controlled by graphics tablets...

I was wondering if anyone knew of any midi yoke type
software that allows you to use a graphics tablet to control
2 midi parameters a la Korg kaos Scratchpad.

I have a midi controller already, but I must admit certain
effects are easier with a scratchpad. I suppose I could use
an XY controller in floops/similair VST plugin, but ideally
I want to be able to use the whole area of my pad, not 1
inch squared... I'd also like to be able to do this outside
of floops/vst compatible programs.

If anyone knows of one, please let me know. Otherwise I may
have to write one as my final year project :)

And actually I want to be able to assign more than 2 (xy)
parameters, I want 4 or even 8. organised in a "star" shape

Ignore the " " " s...

a b c
""\|/
"d---e
""/|\
f g h

You could even assign opposites type effects on opposite
corners of the star...

Supercollider is a Mac audio software language I think, I
don't know a great deal about it- just that it supports
graphics tablets :)

Thing is, a piece of software as I described could do the
same job with a £40 graphics tablet :)

I've got a phatboy midi controller. easy to use, but can be
hard for precision tweaking of 2 parameters in relation to
each other...

i suppose graphic tablets just can send three parameters:
x - y - pressure

The way to control more midi parameters would be to draw
lines on the tablet- center horizontal & vertical, plus
diagonals from the corners of the pad... Each of the lines
(and say, 1cm around them) would control a midi parameter,
you could even say pressure was the degree to which that
effect was applied, eg, top left corner would be most long
echo, pressed hard and the volume would increase...

Ahh, it's that "live" package everyone was going on about
before... I'd never been able to find about it online (I'd
been searching for "Live", you may as well have "the" as a
keyword)...

You can use a joystick to control the XY midi controller
plugin... Personally, I prefer a mouse to joystick for that
though. Mind you, using a joystick would allow you to use a
mouse for other things (like a different xy controller) at
the same time...

ableton live is one of the best audio sequencers, it has a
uniqe philosophy (a bit like acid). great for live gig's ...
funkstörung are using ableton live for live acts ...

Cheers, map. I'll look into it. I used to used acid (the
software :P )a lot so it should be pleasant to get back into
something similar.
