this beat is FRESH!

see this documentary at all costs. i picked up the double
dvd set for under $20 on www.bn.com. it's the best
documentary on dj'ing to date. features cool interviews w/
stars of today such as dj shadow, dj qbert, dj premier, dj
babu, mixmaster mike, z-trip, cut chemist, etc. and ALL the
originators of the artform. very comprehensive history with
lots of great performances and dvd featurettes. all in all a
great value and very enlightening and entertaining to watch.

Thanks for the recommendation. I meant to see the film when
it came out and completely forgot about it. I'll get that
now especially with the stuff you've mentioned.

Well it's great to see an entire dvd talking about
scratching (what is it?well, you call it
scr...rcs...scratch!): the influence of Herbie Hancock's
"Rockit", MixMasterMike's dog rolling on a turntable, the
live session by Q-Bert's house with DJ Shadow ... So cool.

(It seems that they use an autechre's incunabula track for
the soundtrack: "lowride" i think. Has anybody else heard
it?)

they used a guitar solo from local h's "ok" and didn't
credit it. i don't recall autechre but it's more than likely
they used it. it's a really fun dvd guys, pick it up...
