I enjoy both. I don't pick some artists over other
artists...

Or think one is better than the other. Why bother when you
enjoy both artists for what they offer you musically...

Seriously. That's fast becoming a boring argument...

I think they definately get a lot from each other...you only
need read that bit by AFX on the back of FeedMe to see he
was a big fan...

That kinda influenced him as well..HAB is like a reaction by
AFX to SQPR really...

i meant in terms of his technical musical skill

i like aphex twin much better, but that doesn't mean aphex
twin is better. simply means that i like vanilla icecream
with slices of banana and shredded coconut on top.

in terms of the intricacy of the music, squarepusher is
ahead imo!

you' right, its stupid to think about artists and their
music

theres no difference, they're all 'good' and its that simple

yeah i like squarepusher's flavour [hehe] more

they're both very good, of course

aphex twin is maybe a little bit simpler i think...
(not necessarily worse, just not as ridicoulsly hectic as
squarepusher)

i don't know, some tracks on drukqs are as hectic as
anything squarepusher does.

I guess SQPR is more of old school muscian, as he does play
quite a few instruments...

but I don't think SQPR is as good a composer as AFX...

so I dunno really...they are both great in their own ways
really...

I think they both feed and push and drive and inspire each
other..without AFX there will be no []< and without []<, AFX
would sound like a different entity from what it is today..

it's a Symbiotic relationship...

i largely prefer AFX
AFX ruuuuuuuuules
he's inhabiting my thinking every day
square is just fucking great
they dont reach the next level
;)))

i do not listen to squarepusher, but i can't say that he
would be worse.

he's probably better at the drill and bass... but RDJ is the
man with other stuff...

i don't see any point in comparing the two, as their music
is very different.
aphex is still better though;)

aphex is way better, too many of spushers cds arent that
good. if all of toms cds were as good as go plastic then
itd be a tough decision. i know some of you like the jazz
stuff a lot but im not much into those cds by him. it
really depends on which type of idm you like, i suppose you
could make a valid reason for spusher being better but aphex
was really a pioneer of idm, if you know what i mean.

i think squarepusher is just as good as aphex

but aphex gets way more attention and praise than
squarepusher

i think tom jenkinson is far more supperior than the aphex
twin.

I don't think they're comparable. Jenkinson probably has
more technical ability but James can write beautiful
orchestrations, they both do their own thing. I prefer
pusher but that's just my taste.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2002-10-20 19:02 [#00410672]

pusher is much more technical, but aphex is just more
emotional in his orchestrations, and hes a master of melody,
which i think tom could work on a bit. and the stuff on
drukqs is about as hardcore as anything squarepusher has
ever done. still, they're both completely different artists.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-10-21 14:51 [#00411811]

both are insanely talented, but i think squarepusher has a
lot of surprises left to offer. i dont expect aphex to
revolutionize (that would be for a 2nd time) anything else,
but ive got the impression that squarepusher will do so.

all i know is that ive been listening to a whole lot more
squarepusher than aphex in the past year or so...

Heeeeeeeeellllllllll no, Aphex chews up Tom and spits him
out. It's not even close.

A more important question in my mind (I love artist vs
artist battles, no matter how asinine) is APHEX TWIN VS
AUTECHRE.
