Does anyone here do encryption programming? I'm considering
doing it as my final year project and I've got a few
questions. Just post here or mail me. Thanks.

what kind ? public schemes ? private schemes ? classic
cyphers implementation ? hash code generation ? digital
signature ....

There's a lot to do. What skills does it need to involve
from your side ?

speaking of cyphertexts, has anyone recently visited the
vsnares homepage:

vsanres

there's big big picture in the middle of the screen but on
the left part you will find a quasi invisible text. It looks
like raw data displayed as ASCII code.

I'm trying to decrypt this secret message. my first
intuition was to use it as 16-bits PCM samples but it's just
plain white noise. It can be anything else so if you have
time to spend and a little experience with media files , you
can try to break the code !

What I can say about this - it's not random keys typed by Mr
Funk since some of the characters correspond to non assigned
ASCII codes.

If you find the solution - please share with me.

OMG! a secret message from vsnares! lets spend a couple of
days decoding it...

seems like a total waste of time to me.

Yeah to me to. I like having fun when wasting my time and
who knows the message may say:

thank you str_ph but the princess is in another castle. Or
Fuck you nerd !

The Code Book by Simon Singh should sort you out for the
basics upwards....

I'm re-reading The Enigma - Alan Turings biography & theres
a ton of ctyprography in there as well....fucking good book
too....Ceri, I've a spare copy of that if you want it....let
me know...

Ah, Turing of the 'Colossus' fame?
He also got done for being a homosexual or something ,didn't
he? (as well as being brilliant)

Sorry, slight deflection of the original topic!

That's the guy....

His death is a mystery...some say suicide others that he was
murdered by the state as he knew a lot of official secrets &
was a fairly open homosexual...a dangerous thing to be in
the 50s.....

He was convicyed & they tried to treat, yes treat, his
homosexuaility by injecting him with Estrogen, femle
hormone....it's known as Chemical Castration....

Side affect was he ended up growing breasts....

So despite saving millions of lives & playing a huge role in
20th century maths/science, his diginity was taken from
him...and in the end, hsi life...

sad story...but an amazing guy....

That ENIGMA movie washes over Turing....another pity...

altho there is a play/video called Cracking the Code with
Derk Jacobbi as Turing....well worrh seeing....
