why not use traktor - it does the same and it's cheaper !

Unless you want to keep up with your cool DJ style. Try to
find an explanation for the fact that you make a whole DJ
set with only two white labels ::)

I think the way to pay for it would be to get a start up
company loan and charge people £10/15 a vinyl to have
something recorded. Think about it, lots of amateur DJs etc
who would pay for the service to have custom battle
wax\sampler material put onto vinyl. Only possible problem
is copyright, but a good lawyer drafting a disclaimer sheet
would get around that.

You would of course then have it available for your own use.

"Final Scratch" system?

sell them to some poor sucker who thinks they're getting an
original.

Surely it's the conveniance of having such a release on
vinyl that's important?

Besides, real pirates have industrial quantity copying
equipment anyhoo...

I can't wait till small studios start having them. Custom
vinyl cut for £15? = All my own tracks on vinyl :)

I was gonna get one of my tracks cut on lush blue vinyl but
then I started dating and by the time I got my money back up
I had no desire to sit on 500 copys of something my friends
would prolly end up getting for free. This would change it
but it I would have to sell a lotta vinyl to get my moneys
worth and go thru the pain of sitting doing each one at a
time.

I know, I'd just use it to get my own tracks on vinyl for
personal use- not to actually release anyhting, I think
that'd still be cheaper to get a small cutting house to
do...

I was gonna use http://www.cops.co.uk/ or someone else I
forgot for my vinyl.

Personal use + record pressing = nope. You will have a min
order of like 500 vinyls. If you know of a place that will
do one-offs i'd be very happy to hear about it.

Like you say tho maybe this tool will bring an end to that.

Yeh, that's what I meant, you could use this vinyl cutter
for one offs rather than mass pressings.

If it costs $10,000 and you were selling them for $15. You'd
have to sell 666 copies to break even. I've always fancied
getting my remixes cut onto vinyl. Never actally done it
though. Maybe I will someday.

If you make a split EP vinyl with like 2 tracks by each
artist on each side it instantly halves the price. Or get 4
people on it and quarter it.

Lots of people would want 2 or 3, but I suppose you need to
take into account the cost of the blank vinyl...

Spikee- Good idea, you could get 3 mates to put tracks in
and have 1000 pressed for £250 each, not bad :)
