No wondered Autechre never appealed...

Having been disspointed in some of their other albums, I
did something I never thought I would ever do, and bought
Confield. My God! It is amazing! It's complex, scary,
atmsopheric and masterful.. (although I'd like more of those
weird, slow "bell" tracks in the middle of the
album....hmmm) I hope this signifies their new direction, as
I am now very interested in their music. Who agrees it's way
better than the new DVD single?

I liked the grantz graf track at first, but now I'm not so
fond of it (although it IS great with the video)

love the textures in there..

(which I also love on confield..)

on whether confield signifies their new direction - they
made that music 2 or 3 years ago.. who knows?

The main reason I prefer Confield to anything else they have
done is because of it's dark, beautiful, atmosohere. I,
personally, don't find their other stuff as complex OR as
emmotional as Confield (apart from Amber, but I've grown
tired of that for some reason)

I'm suprised how people have changed their minds about
confield. When it was first released people thought it was
just noisy garbage... but now some people are hailing it as
a masterpiece.

I hated Confield for a while. I got into it once I listened
to it more. Gantz Graf stinks though, to be honest. I hope
their next LP is done with more care than Gantz Graf seemed
to have been done. Cap.IV is all right, I guess.

"more care than Gantz Graf"..?

have you missed all the layers, all the textures in there?
the whole track hangs on details..

anyway.. confield is a masterpiece, but I said that
from the beginning HA HA HA!

Gantz Graf is shit compared to Confield. What I can't stand
is when people say, ''but you have to see the VIDEO to
'understand' it!''

... What's there to understand? The music is lackluster,
seeing some fancy designs isn't going to make it any
better... and if I'm driving in a car listening to some
Autechre, I can't be watching the DVD at the same time! I'll
mow down an old lady or something.

ah bullshit.

as I said, it has such detail and texture. you do not need
the video.

i agree with qrter, the video is just an added bonus to
visualize the song, i visualize the video in my head
sometimes. the song does have a lot of detail and it takes
quite a few listens to here them all.

also just because some of you dont like gantz graf doesnt
mean its bad, thats just your opinion. so many of you hated
confield when it came out and now like it so dont continue
that same frame of mind when you hear new autechre.

I have complete faith in autechre. If I don't get something
they do, I know my ears just need time to catch up to them.

They have proven this point with every release since
Chiastic.

Of course this gives them the license to release an utter
piece of tripe and have it preemptively hailed as a
masterpiece that will only be appreciated years hence.

Hasn't happened yet.

Has it?

i think autechre just wanted to use the dvd format. they
seem to like new gagets and technologies ...i mean look at
their use of the minidisc...now dvd. it was just so they
could say they have a dvd. maybe im wrong but it would make
sense.

i tried to get into confield... then i realised that trying
to get into something doesn't work. i don't think it's a
very good album.

Am I the only person that thinks VI Scose Poise is a really
good piece?

Parhelic Triangle is actually quite terrifying, in my
opinion. I really like it. It's so organic.

vi scose poise is AWESOME!! i love it for sure. and yeah
parhelic triangle scared me the first time. it still
resembles a mass of people being hypnotized. that and a sea
of droneful, depressed, bouys (those water things for ships)
... like millions of them...just swaying in some alien
world's wind... totally dark out..lots of black / purple /
grey

What's with the name, "Confield"? Was it supposed to be
cornfield, but they forgot the "r"?

I think Confield is a great LP ! But in my opinion Autechre
tracks need a good HiFi-Stereo. I think for Gantz Graf its
espacially important to dig all layers and Details.

Hey I know that dude on your pic! hes a good actor and a
very down to earth nice person in "real life". Have u seen
his flix?

and back to the subject...I must admit that I was a "playa
hater" in the beginning and said a lot of bad words about
Confield like "fucking garbage noice" but now like all u
ohter fucks I LOVE IT A LOT (yes Confield is almost a
masterpiece)!!

yeah. corny, huh? ;)

anyway i've always felt that gg has a symbiotic relationship
with its video. you can't have either one without the other

as for confield: in hindsight, you can pretty much
extrapolate from lp5 and ep7 what it was going to sound
like. that doesn't mean it isn't a great album. just not the
evolutionary leap one might have expected.

personally i think that the track cap.iv is far more
advanced than anything off confield, and so it would be
silly to call gg a confield b-side.

i was listening to confield jus before going to sleep, and
had a lucid dream..... there was someone sleeping next to
me! a kid asking for more of the blanket or something.....
but i couldn't turn round to see who it was .... +_+
i got it recently really cheap (the album..) its wicked
