Not being a dj of any description myself, was just wondering why a laptop dj might decide to use an actual mixer beside it, as opposed to using the mixer provided by the software? |

maybe so they can use external hardware modules as well as their laptop + software. Plus i guess the best mixers are probably better than any software mixers |

its probably a contoller... not a mixer the output of the laptop would only be on one channel, so i mixer would be much use, except for the master EQ. the controller would contol the levels of the software mixer |

what if they were using an external sound card? there could be multiple outs from that connected to the mixer to be able to mix between the songs on the one machine. i use a dj mixer when i play live for this very purpose. although i am not mixing... i am using the second out to que up samples and such that i hear in the headphones and the audience does not hear. |
