Yes, it is pretentious, but only if you watch it with
directors commentry turned on. Otherwise (so long as you
take it with a pinch of salt) it's very enjoyable.

I forgot Battle Royale...

I am sorry, I haven't watched it with Aronofski's comments
(I have a DivX rip, not DVD), I watched it straight up and
screamed with irritation all the time. It's just so textbook
weird and wild...

My ex GF used to looooove that film. For me it was just
basic, run of the mill holywood mid-budget thing...

However, that british TV series he starred in (Can't
remember the title but he was an MP in there and his name
was Alan B'Stard) was good for the sheer bad taste of it.
