Early Tangerine Dream

I'm just listening to their 1972 album, Zeit, which is
about black voids of space, black holes, time, and the
begginings of stars...and I'm blown away! Like Autechre, I
hated it at first, but now I fully appreciate the textures,
the minimilistic yet strangely attractive and very
atmospheric soundscapes, and the sound designs (especially
considering when it was made!)
Anyone else admire the early Tangerine Dream albums?
Richochette is another classic imo.

You should try Zeit....it's like Rubycon, but very dark and
almost scary! I listened to it last night and was pretty
freaked out..hehe.

I always thought they made cheesy Synthesizer music.....tho
I havent heard anything by 'em yet.....but, anyhow, Id
probably prefer Kraftwerk over em.....

Cheesy!? Maybe their recent work, but their old stuff is
anything BUT cheesy...in fact, it can be really dark and
brooding and horrid!

They are so underrated...they practically invented ambient
music imo, and their early music is so ahead of it's
time...in a weird way they remind me of Autechre.
However, their new stuff is very dissapointing indeed. They
went the reverse way of Autechre; starting noisy and
avant-guarde, than going all poppy and melodious.

tangerine dream......ehhehe i 'borrowed' my bro-in-laws tape
for LIFE. hahah
i didn't know who they were but i loved the 'spacey music'

the one and only TD i have is Stratosfear

and IMO they sound nuttn nor do they remind me of AE....they
do remind me of aphex SAW II tho

They don't sound like Ae but the idea of some their early
experimental albums is similar...(the manipulation of
sound)
Or maybe I'm just drunk?
