The xbox is crap. Its twice the size of my VCR. And i don't think gamecube is shaping up to be anything other than a slightly better N64. Still relying on licenses to make money.
Nah, PS2 is where its at.

I bought it early this afternoon. The cheery pastel theme is a little hard to stomach -- more of a doom and gloom guy myself.. But hey, it'sa Mario! The 3rd grade summer vacation aesthetic wormed it's way into me after an hour or so and now I kind of like it.. Lots of shit-your-pants-over-how-cute-they-are creatures running around with plenty of adorable things to say. Especially the fungal gurgling noises made by the little Toads!
As for the gameplay... I'm still not sure yet. When I come to a conclusion I'll give you the full verdict.

Yeah PS2 is still #1, but GC is still a good system. I have both. Plus, if I didn't have a GC I wouldn't be able to play Nintendo's uber 1st party games.
Also, there's still Resident Evil 0, which looks bad ass....

-And as for Xbox, I think you'll change your tune by the end of the year. I'll admit, other than Halo and Morrowind there aren't any games out now worth a second glance.. Have you seen any previews though? Halo II, Deus Ex II, Project Ego, B.C. , and Psychonauts all look VERY promising.

I wonder why nobody mentions dreamcast anymore. Is that system dead/dying?
I played a gamecube mario game demo, I assume it was mario sunshine, at a store... it hardly held my interest... the starting level looks way too identical to the starting level in mario 64, and you have some weird ass water jet pack?? I hate games that think they're movies... and the new "star fox" demo is pretty much like that... still probably having too few enemies even though these systems are supposed to handle loads of simultaneous polygons aren't they?? The gameplay is linear like a movie... there needs to be decisions, chaos... like command and conquer, every game is different... there's strategy. A game that gets a lot of good reviews at gamasutra is Age of Empires but I havn't played it. I guess it has AI that does not cheat (like mario cart's AI does)

a mate bought Shenmu 2 for DC yesterday and he's stoked. Haven't you heard that sega are no longer making hardware (consoles) ? this has given them the opportunity however to develop for all systems now which can explain sonic on GBA and GC (who could have seen that one coming?), I think if anyone should be critisised about making linear games like movies then it should be sony, I think they have mastered the FMV cut scence where as nintendo has only had the room for good FMV on their latest format, (the minidvd rom).

I haven't seen it running yet (moo2) but I will tonight. Apparently it isn't going to be released down here in oz so my mate had to get an import from the UK. Have you played seaman? I think it was only released in japan?... it was a fishtank simulator game with seaman as your pet. I heard that it came with a microphone so you could talk to it!!! trust those japs to come up with something like that. It certainly doesn't sound linear or like a movie...

Fuck, I've got to get a Gamecube next week. I'll probably never play it and it'll sit collecting dust like my PS2, but I HAVE to have the lastest Mario game, or I'll feel imperfect. And also Zelda and Metroid. Must repsect the Miyamoto.

I picked up a Wavebird today... You're right, it's a completely liberating experience! No more stubborn cords, no more ripping the controller out of the port as you jump up to take a piss, no more not being able to play while standing in your front yard.. The only downside is that there's no rumble feature. God knows I'll miss that... But hey, that's what girlfriends are for right?
