i dont get why people say that. in fact, i find that their
music has a lot of emotion, probably the most emotion-ful
within the idm scene (for me).

anyway, why do people say that? too machine-sounding, is
this it?

Me either, I think their music more than most other stuff is
carried by emotion never mind devoid of it.

well... music means differnt things to different people

theres styles I dont find all that emotional... and same
with other people

its just taste

if everyone found all music emotional... theyd listen to it
all.

just different ways of expressing it is all.

the people who dont like autechre just have a different
point of veiw on music...

it isn't emotionless,
it just comes out really dry sometimes
I don't think that AE has anymore emotion than Aphex though
especially when you take into account SAW II
but as the lightsaber-wielding monkey said "they're entitled
to their opinion"
I'm entitled
You're entitled
We're all entitled
And we all said...

it's sometimes too experimental for me... and that gets in
the way...

yeah, i do agree with the fact that it's all subjective, a
matter of personal taste, different perception. and i do
agree that some tracks are pretty dry too (ie, underBOAC),
but i still sense a lot of emotion in them.

Like confield. to me that's a sloppy mess, like they bashed
their forehead on their synthesizer and recorded it. This
album i cannot get into, but chiastic slide....oooo.....love
it.

here's what I said elsewhere

hmm..I personally think emotions are overrated..for the
genre we are discussing..if you are going into a composition

creating songs to appeal to the emotions..it's just cheap
and sensationalist..that's what the Elton Johns and the Eric

Claptons were placed on this earth for..if on the other hand

emotional tension arises as a natural part of the process
out of an artist somehow managing to graft a piece of their

mood and their self a that precise moment of creation..then

it can be the most beautiful thing...to me that is the
classic departure point..and what the makes the beauty and
melancholy of some of autechre's work so much superior to
BoC...I mean even the song titles of Ae are intentionally
elusive and indecipherable..the packaging and graphics are
sparse and minimal..and yet the material can be emotionally

engaging..why?..because it hasn't been quantified and
classified..and you can easily attach any emotion and
feeling from your own experience to it..
