Helping a friend with Ae

Yesterday I dled an Ae song at a friends house and he liked
it (it was low ride off Inc.). Anyways, I thought it would
be a good idea instead of giving him cds I would give him a
song off each cd. Here's a list of songs I think anyone can
use to show their friends the beauty of Autechre without
over-doing it or scaring them off.

[NOTE: to avoid confusion, only show them songs off LPs.
that way they won't shuffle through those and the pile of
EPs.]

Incunabula: Low Ride. Its a song with a style everyone is
used to and not too many people should argue on it
especially if theyre new to Ae.

Amber: Silverside. Another great song with instantly
recognizable instruments (strings) and a nice melody. It
showcases weird sounds while still being accessible.

Tri Repetae: Rsdio. One of the problems with TR is that
most of the tracks are kinda repetitive...something not bad
to Ae pros. But for the average person, they might get
turned off. Rsdio isn't too repetative and has a nice beat
and sound effects.

Chiastic slide: Cipater. The song is interesting in both
sounds and composition. Ae beginners shouldn't have a hard
time with this one.

LP5: Corc. What do I need to say? Its beautiful melodies
should captivate anyone!

EP7: Rpeg. I know this is actually an EP but you can use it
as an LP too. Nice melodies and isn't something too scary
for newbies.

Confield: Cfern. Nice and jazzy with beats that arn't too
repetative.

hmmm, I'd pick either Clipper, Eutow, or C/Pach from Tri
Repetae... not that I don't like Rsdio... it's one of my
favorites, but I think the others I listed are a bit more
"friendly" maybe... :)

Those you listed are indeed good Funkmaster but they'd be
too repetative for the average person ... i would think.

from the album... ah, who knows...

I found the best way to introduce someone to Æ is to bring
them to a live show.

Or get them to sit thru Cichle Suite.

if i was doing this...

Incunabula: umm... i hate this album, id forget it and put
"tilapia" on there instead

Amber: Yulquen

Tri Repetae: Leterel

Chiastic slide: probably either Tewe or Nuane

LP5: Arch Carrier

EP7: Squeller

Confield: Eidetic Casein

i'd also find some room for Draun Qtr

That's a pretty cool selection of tracks...

I've got a lot of time for the AE record guide over at
http://lonelymachines.org/autechre.html ...

His taste in AE kinda agrees with mine but probably not
everyone...it's all a bit subjective but regardless, it is a
good little guide to their various releases...
