He will get from me a big -100 points, for christ sake,he's
just a fucking dj spinning trance/techno tunes he's not a
even a composer.....>:} Besides that name sucks way too
much.....

I'm sure it probably is shit. But I wouldn't trust a word
that NME says, as it is equally a complete pile of steaming
toss.

No my friend Manicminer,I don't even care what the press
says, never trust them because after all they r all about
commercial/selling...Trust yourself,your heart,what you
really like....But then again we all know what POakenfold is
all about....Trance-n-Exctacy......

I've never heard Oakenfold. I guess that's not a bad
thing... I've just heard him mentioned on this board, and
it's not complimentary...

I admit I have a mix cd by him (the one with the airplane
seatbelt on the cover). I mean...when you think about
it...you're not buying MUSIC from HIM...you're paying him to
like...put 1 and 1 together: mixing. Rubbish. I hate it.

Thats why I don't get why Djs are so popular. I mean...you
can say 'yeah I love so and so dj cause he plays great
music'...then like..GO BUY THE MUSIC YOURSELF! The dj (more
often than not) didn't make the music but took that piece
from an artist and wove the ending to the start of another
peice by another ARTIST. So like.. I don't get it.

Ive said before I like Richie Hawtin a bunch cause I do like
his mixing but I also heard he tore songs apart and put them
back together. I don't think most djs would take the time
to do that.

So..yeah...

Amonbrune,Richie Hawtin is another story,if he could
re-program a music piece he will do it,he's a master in
that,plus he is a nice musician himself,he
produces/composes/program his own music,as RDJ,he's also an
artist,a really nice one....=)

the track with ice cube is hotness. "ready steady go" is ok.
haven't heard the rest yet. i was really excited about
esthero and the neptunes being on the album but apparently
they were ditched. normally i'd have been excited about
tricky being on the album too but he sucks now.

pink hands, shellfish, whatever.

I got nothing against trance as long as its good and
melodic. ya DJ cds upset me too. but it is a nice way to
get a good mix sometimes... I would love to do live DJ sets
and spin some crazy shit though!

The only trance I own is a double cd set called progressive
euphoria...and it's alright listening to it on a long drive,
but nowhere else!

Richie Hawtin definitely plays a totally different ball game
to Oakenfold. His decks,efx&909 album is amazing, the
booklet even has a chart showing which of the 38 tracks come
in when and when 3 records are being played simultaneously
and stuff. As the title says, it's not just records he's
playing, he's adding his own drums and efx into the mix
which he gets my respect for.

I'm going to being seeing Oakenfold live at a festival in
Germany this year. Only coz Underworld are on afterwards
though and I wanna be down the front.

Agrees with Phatbert 500%,RichieHawtin' Decks,efx&909 is an
excellent mix record,he does play his own stuff plus he adds
efx, and real-time music(like playing a 303 live with some
phat sounding acid sound) to some of the songs he's
mixing....After all,RichieHawtin is a real
musician/producer,not to mention his work as Plastikman, damn
good!!!

"ready steady go" isn't exactly utter shite, but at the same
time it is pretty lame - I'm sure most people could do what
he's done there and come up with something at least of equal
value...ie - make a bad rip-off of some chemical
brothers-eque tune from a few years ago - it's just
"electronica" by numbers!

yeah, I wouldn't trust NME at all, they gave selection 16 a
panning, they just needed to give it a bit of time.

but i'm not saying oakies album is good!

*pssss, nice hair*

Yeah that album isnt good, it sounds like a watered down BT
record........the track with ICE CUBE is okay, the rest
kinda blows.....
