USA vs. UK...

Canada really has little to do with america besides
continental location. The culture difference between Canada
and the USA is easily looked over because of that fact, and
the fact we speak the same language. Canadas culture,
community, and art are quite a unique medly of European
styles mixed with the influence of the land. No doubt that
the countries bear similarities, just as every country in
the western world does.

eeeeh, and what about germany? it's the place where
electronic music was born.

-> stockhausen (very early)
-> tangerine dream
-> KRAFTWERK

*then* it moved over the ocean to become electro in detroid.
;-)

anyway. there is such a great cultural diversity in this
world. and internet may help to discover it.

so i recently discovered some wired music from scandinavia
(finland, norway, sweden) which is just great. without the
internet, we would just hear, what the industry wants us to
hear...

greetz, andreas

btw, nacmat : sure, i know what flamenco music sounds like.
:-)

i love my country but i'm not fond of its mainstream music
industries. i'm not xenophobic, so i don't really see the
point in any such conflict.

lol.
I live in the UK.....its pretty neat. My city has become
very cool over a few years. I used to hate where i lives and
my country and LOVED the american dream thing but with the
dawn of the internet ive learned that both countires have
their downside and both really cool things. I love all
countries. Recently ive become more interested in places
like Sweden. Love to go there:)

I'd have to concede the point that, aside from a few
exceptions, pretty much all good music comes outta England.
(At least the kind that I like)...Beatles, Pink Floyd,
Aphex, BoC, Autechre...etc.

I think the culture and places in England are really cool,
I'd love to take a trip there someday.

Well, a lot of great music from all kinds of genres comes
from the UK, except the more agressive music like metal.
That's where the americans are good at.
And on the other hand, the USA doesn't have that much
succesfull electronic artists.

Amercians aren't good at agressive music...Americans majors
are good at releasing noise. The only reason music seems
good from the UK is because we have had a few good artists
who happen to speak the same language as our cousins in the
US, hence gaining mass popularity.

American tv is better.
One word , Southpark!
Other good shows::Twin Peaks ,Simpsons ,Six Feet Under ,
Thats My Bush , Sopranos , V (hehe!), Futurama, Jackass,
Automan (yes) GiJoe , Transfomers.

The best shows that ever came out of UK was Monty Pytons
Flying Circuss and the Ali G show imo.
Black Ather (sp?) was cool to.
Oh also that show Smack My Poony was funny as hell , it was
three very talented girls doing sketches.

But ofcourse im only judging whats been aired here or what
foreign channels i have.

British TV is abismal ! It's so totally one-tracked. "Sex
sex sex" (Mom have I got a big nose). Every night you have
at least 2 or 3 programs which are basically pornography in
disguise. They most come under the form of documentaries -
Sex in the middle ages, Sex with the ancient greeks, Men who
used to women, blah blah ad nauseum...
I have nothing against a bit of porn mind you, but thats
what the xxx channels are for !
It's intensly dull. But then again I haven't seen any
american TV so maybe it's worse (although I can't see
how)...

I come from a place where it's beautiful and sunny and
everything is green. Now I'm living in london for a year.
It's a little dull looking here but has good music. The
drink, weed, cigarettes are waayyy over priced.

Not a big fan of america, don't have a problem with it, a
country is a country,I like..uhmm...I hate british drum n
bass, it might've have started here, the whole scene is
messed up and they play watered down, poppy dnb tracks. It's
a shame, I like what some american dnb producers are doin.
America 1, UK 0, what the fuck? See..

Stupid topic methinks, but i'll just give my piece of mind.
For the hell of it.

I agree with UK drum and bass. Most of it has gone totally
shite now. I used to love it back in the day, now it is
boring.
