one night Richard was passed out after a long nights celebration, and somebody hacked into Richard's spinal cord, jacked in, and managed to download 11 tracks before Richard woke up to take a piss. actually i think the story is that Richard recorded these tracks on regular cassette tapes for friends and warp associates (keep in mind this was probably a few years before mp3 trading). he thought they would make up a record to be released after ICBYD, but then changed his mind, probably because he was getting more into the 'drill n bass' stuff he was doing. it is rumoured that he said, when giving this cassette to a friend "these tracks outta be in a video game, or you outta send to video game makers" as far as i have read, there is no real evidence that Richard actually made them for a game, just that they were inspired by classic video games who Richard is said to like to play. if they were actually commisioned by a video game company, i'm sure they would have tried to at least use or profit off the tracks somehow. how did Phobiazero and Joyrex end up with these tapes? that is for them to say. and if i am wrong, and you know a closer version of the truth, then correct me. i'm bored. |
