Imaginary Videos/Images to Music

1010-1111-10 from St.John\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-06 07:23 [#00058525]

I dont know about anyone else but when i hear some songs i
get very clear visuals to accompany the music, and they are
far far better then any music video i've seen. I hope
someone else gets this too cuz i'd like to hear what they
see when they listen to certain songs!

My fav is the images i get for Beskhu3epm:

When it starts out i see 3 kids playing in a field just
having fun and fooling around with each other, but 30seconds
into the song (when it sounds a bit evil/sad) two faceless
men dressed in blue grab one kid by the arms (one man to
each arm) and drag the kid away, as they do all color is
gone and everything is black and white as they drag him
through the field but he struggles free at around 0:55 and
runs back to where his friends were only to find that they
arent there, and everything is still black and white. At
1:41 he looks around to see buildings rise out of the ground
and replace the field once before them, and just before the
end he looks down do discover he has aged and it now very
very old....

dont think i'm crazy now but its just what i think of when i
hear this song, guess its my intrepertation of growing
up..... sad i guess.

I know what you mean. Klavdbdung or whatever gives me a
vivid image of a clock tower, and there's a man at the top
ready to jump. He does, and hits the ground and explodes
into doves at the last weird chord.

Oh, by the way, 1010, you've lost your marbles and should be
locked up and beaten repeatedly.

i have always had visualisations for music and everything
else. but i am not articulate enough to put them into
words.

Korben Dallas from _ on 2001-12-06 09:59 [#00058576]

Well, I sort of get imagery - but I tend to keep it on a
more subliminal sort of level. Not the focus .. but the
content if you like : so as Penguin - I can not really
articulate this well, because it isn't like "a music video"
as such .. more like - sort of semi specific imagery with
sort of like mood and surroundings sort of specified?

I try to do it the other way around also. Create music to
fit certain sort of images - but I'm not too successful at
this stage > :)

doki from grmny on 2001-12-06 10:16 [#00058583]

i also get totally clear imagery ... for example the song
"4" gives me a picture of golden sunrays that shine on a
beautiful landside "running" across it, and when the
"richard: yeah?" part comes i see rich in his tank working,
his father coming nearer - when the "chorus" part turns on,
the view goes straight up through the rays into the sky like
a fast flying bird and i can watch through the clouds
watching the landscape again ...

i wished a lot of times there would be a video-thing adapted
to my soul that could give me ready-made vid of my imagery -
who knows, in a few years ;-A

Korben Dallas from _ on 2001-12-06 10:17 [#00058584]

Ah .. there is that problem of the soul tho :)

I get abstract ideas, like remembered fragments of dreams or
when you black out on alcohol and little details of what
happened come back over time. Some of them aren't even
images, but they're hardly feelings either. For example
"Yellow Calx" makes me think of waking up in the evening,
and getting ready to work, but it's my equivalent of morning
as though I was nocturnal (I'm not). The track "Les nuits"
(and the previous versions of it on the earlier albums) by
Nightmares on wax does exactly the same thing, even though
musically they are completely different.

Oh yeah, there's also a track on disc 2 of SAW2 (I forget
which one) that has a clock ticking . It reminds me of an
old man with glasses making toys in a shack out in the woods
then something comes in to get him near the end of the track
and it goes black.

doki from grmny on 2001-12-06 13:04 [#00058622]

wow, the saw2 stuff is something completely different -
it´s like watching deep red/brown/yellow colours morphing
in itself all the time (you know, like when you close your
eyes) and then behind that happening i get some images, very
blurred, abstract stuff - i love to lay down, get on a
spliff closing eyes and then tripping the whole album ...
afterwards i always feel like i did a big journey into some
very unknown land ...
rich´s description i think fits also the best: he said in
an interview this record is like standing in a power plant
on acid ... hmmm, yeah, that´s it i´d say!

holy shit, just after i wrote that i went to sleep, (which
is very difficult for me). I was kinda in the middle of
going to sleep but still awake, but i couldnt move at all,
and i couldnt open my eyes, but i partially awake. What i
actually saw was my computer screen in front of me just as i
would if i were sitting at my desk, but there was a window
above me that is normally off to the right and something was
outside it moving around, and i was scared to shit, but i
was so tired that i couldnt move. Sleep paralysis i think
its called.... along with a little visuals just to scare me.
Damn i want one of those again!

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-06 21:35 [#00058733]

yeah, that happens to me... thats the best music, the stuff
that gives you a little mental image...

I've already written about Icct Hedral, and Start as You
MEan to go On... Icct Hedral is like a spooky little tunnel,
and then you fall down a trap door or something... one time
that song just sucked every bit of air outta my system it
was such a cool experience...

also, with Bjorks new album, just about every song is like
the forest on a winters day with soft snow falling... it's a
beautiful image... I love that album!!!

Ceri JC on 2001-12-07 14:14 [#00058878]

Funkmaster:
Icct Hedral (edit), conjures up images for me too. Has
anyone read the Alan Garner book "Elidor"? Because Icct
Hedral reminds me a lot of the otherworldly place in that.
Desolate moors and woods with shadow people hunting the
unicorn.

What I love doing is playing a really sad/emotional song,
and pretending that a camera slowly moves all over my room
stopping at photos/memorable items that suggest that
something tragic has happpened to me.

Ah, guess I'm in the cage with 1010! :)

hehe in fact its a detail of an A4 drawing
of a bloody skeleton i made, its much more obvious in his
normal size
the shadows on his "head" (he wears a "capuchon" i dont know
the english for it...), come from a pentagram floating like
an aureol ! <--- did u understand all of that ? (im not sure
ive been clear)
