PRODIGY SPLIT?
Exclusive: Band over and record shelved, apparently...
07.nov.01

The Prodigy have split, PlayLouder is all sniffly and teary
eyed to report.

The split occurred when the band returned from their recent
Scandinavian tour. Subsequent dates were shelved after
in-band bickering led to Liam Howlett kicking out Keith and
Maxim, according to a source close to the band.
"Basically, the Prodigy are no more," said our source. "It
all kicked off during the tour. By the end of it they just
weren't speaking to each other and when they got home Liam
booted the other two out of the band."
Apparently relations between the remaining members (Dancer
Leeroy quit back in April 2000) have been strained for a
while. Keith and Liam have had "huge arguments" about
Keith's solo material, which he wanted to include on the new
album. Liam was having none of it, we're told, as it is
"very rubbish".
PlayLouder can also reveal that the follow up to 97's 'The
Fat Of The Land' is in the can, but is likely to remain
there.
"The album's finished, and has been for a while," said our
source. "Liam is just refusing to release it. Which is
obviously not going down very well with the record
company."
A spokesperson for the band's label XL Recordings could
neither confirm or deny the split, but did say that the band
have a tour booked for early next year which they are
contractually bound to go ahead with, whatever has, or might
happen.

Gav from cleethorpes on 2001-11-11 15:04 [#00050458]

That's not news to me, i thought they'd broken up ages ago
sometimes around the first time i heard the dirtchamber
sessions or whatever it's called. I loved the prodigy but
i'm not exactly going to be crying myself to sleep tonight.
