CheezenVeggies from Florida on 2001-04-11 02:21 [#00003108]

I just bought Richard D. James album and so...

I decided to order his imports, I've heard samples of each
of them...

Surfing On Sine Waves
Selected Ambient Works 85-92
52/13 (Aphex Singles Collection)
Classics

I love his ambient stuff and I've heard samples of all those
singles...i heard Classics and Sine Waves, is good as well I
can't wait till the cd get here.

My collection:
-Classics
-SAW I
-RDJ Album
-Come To Daddy
-Windowlicker single with video
-ICBYD (I haven't got this one yet, but it will be delivered
soon I hope)

My fav is the RDJ album: most tracks on it are just great
and I like the style.

CheezenVeggies from Florida on 2001-04-11 14:46 [#00003161]

what does SAW I stand for?

CheezenVeggies from Florida on 2001-04-11 14:53 [#00003162]

Mr. Dirby from USA on 2001-04-11 18:03 [#00003183]

I have 15 cds and one vinyl. The thing is I don't have close
to all of them. I am looking for a lot of the singles and
stuff. It is hard to find them here in the states. I guess
not enought people know about Aphex Twin wich is really
unfortunate. But just to let everyone know if you watch MTV
you can here them playing Aphex in the background. Recently
I hear Power Pill and I have heard come to daddy. So even
though MTV sucks someone there still knows what good music
is.

Human © on 2001-04-11 21:12 [#00003197]

Who cares? You see, I think that when one of his tracks gets
put onto a disc, it is really kind of fixed. It is really
good, but I don't think that saying I have every track is
too important. The live stuff always has a lot of life to
it. Yeah. . .

CheezenVeggies from Florida on 2001-04-11 21:18 [#00003199]

with regard to what Human wrote:

i don't see it as a problem with having work of Richards no
matter how minamal or grand your collection is... u don't
have to take it offensive...

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-04-12 00:52 [#00003224]

On mtv a couple days ago they had some stupid bullshit show
called how to be a rock star. I heard them play hot butter
popcorn for about 5 seconds, i thought that was very sweet
indeed. On a side note - Kidrock said some other bullshit
about he doesnt care who it is, but no one is in the
business for the music, its all for the money. Now,
obviously Richie is in it for the money. Is anyone on this
board interested in music because of the money???? If you
are get off the board. But i know none of you are like this
cuz you are all aphex fans, intelligent fans.

Human © on 2001-04-12 01:08 [#00003229]

Oh, none taken, Veggie. I have quite a bit, actually. I need
AB2, but that is it. I just don't want people to get all
excited about the number of releases they have or anything.
I like people to focus on the music, and the joy it brings.
Not material.

Mr. Dirby from usa on 2001-04-12 01:12 [#00003233]

Intelligant yes! But just to clear things up Kid Rock is a
sell out. He had some good songs and his stuff was good
until he got big. Now he just sucks. I think that Richard
has his biggest fan base now than ever. And we are all
trying to spread the word as well. You think that he would
keep releasing stuff because we would buy it. The only
problem with that is he could put out crap just for an
album. And I doubt that would happen in the first place. So
hopefull he will release a new album in the future.

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-12 01:16 [#00003235]

yes! *no-one* would be in it for the money! Now just let me
go and remix a popular song and see if i can get some cash
for it!

CheezenVeggies from Florida on 2001-04-12 01:32 [#00003239]

I still don't know what you mean Human...but I would like to
know what you think is your fav A.T. album since you have
such a massive collection. What you recommend, will most
likely influence me to buy that next RDJ's album

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-04-12 04:21 [#00003252]

Do any of you think that perhaps, RDJ's contract with all of
his record companies have expired. I need to find out. It's
a possibility, I hope that has not happened though.

nano from malmö/sweden on 2001-04-12 09:40 [#00003276]

My girlfriend has just told me I am really sad, and should
take up trainspotting. Thoughts?

Human © on 2001-04-12 15:24 [#00003300]

(Ignore GF) Well, I think my favorite is Hangable Auto Bulb.
Those songs are just so mad. They go all around, and don't
stay still. . . Yeah. . . I really like Mike and Rich, but
there again I am a huge µ-Ziq fan, needing only Full Sunken
Breaks, Das Ist Ein Groovybeat, Ja, and the Gary Moschles
album. But, I would say HAB. I really like SAW II for summer
nights, though.

Human © on 2001-04-12 15:26 [#00003302]

Well, when I first got SAW 85-92 I listened to Xtal for
about three days on and off. Love that song. . .

razorfield from london on 2001-04-13 04:52 [#00003355]

I heard someone comment that aphex is in it for the money. i
think not. He is the only musician i know of who has kept
his integrity total. Back in 99 Bjork, Kylie Minogue and
Madonna (yes, Madonna) all asked him to produce their albums
- he refused all of them; instead he signed Bjork's backing
singer to his rephlex imprint. If anyone went to his rephlex
nights at the soundshaft in london during 98 and 99 (just
£1.00 to get in!) they might of noticed Kylie and Madonna
dancing away to one of his wicked sets (not on the same
night I might add). RESPECT...razor

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-13 07:48 [#00003365]

I could totally see bjork asking him to produce her
album..that would be rad, but a collaboration would do
nicely if at all possible

DamnOne/Marvelon from UK on 2001-04-13 07:58 [#00003368]

Classics, SAW I & II, Richard D James Album, I Care Because
