well, whenever I feel like listening to new music of a
certain genre that I don't have I just go to www.besonic.com
and have a browse there, you search for the songs by genre
so it usually isn't hard to find something you like,

AFXDUB from Canada on 2001-04-06 00:29 [#00002729]

Oh really? ill check that out too.. thanks. I still would
love people to tell me whats like SAWII... other artists.

Try "CAFE' DE MAR" vol. (1-7).
They are copilations with various electronic-ambient
artists.

If do you prefer a new name I say to you: "ECLECTIC BOB".
He play a sound similiar to ambient and He has a web site

www.eclecticbob.com (download free!)

In the links He appointment also the WARP RECORDS and APHEX

Check out Biosphere, hes right up there with Aphex Twin.
Biosphere's "Substrata": is generally considered on par
with Selected Ambient Works vol 2 in the IDM circles.
Also, check out the collaboration of Biosphere and Higher
Intelligence Agency called "Polar Sequences", absolutely
brilliant.

Eikman from Germany on 2001-04-06 15:27 [#00002820]

ambient stuff? try:

FSOL - Lifeforms
Orb - U.F. Orb
Global Communication - 76:14
KLF - Chill Out
Amorphous Androgynous - Tales of Ephidrina

this should be a good start :)

I just bought the fight club soundtrack, And If you're
looking for some excellent basement ambient, this is where
to find it, I downloaded "finding the bomb" off napster
which was pretty hardcore for a simple beat loop, but when I
bought the full cd I found out that almost every other song
has something different, very experimental, and very cool,
It's pretty hardcore for ambient stuff but you can still
chill out and relax to it, I recommend it,

p.s. I know this was discussed in another thread,.. but does
anyone know anything about the dust brothers or their
history? thanx

Ross from Can. on 2001-04-09 06:10 [#00002950]

the dust bros. used to produce a lot of albums, for people
like beck and eels..no relation to chemical brothers, as
used to of been thought

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-04-09 08:31 [#00002955]

I can see why people can think that there is a relationship
between the chemical brothers, because on the chemical
brothers cd, it's got "freestyle dust" all over it (the
company that released the cd I'm taking it) and also the
obvious synonym of "chemical brothers" "dust brothers", but
after all, I assumed that they were the one band,

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-04-09 09:52 [#00002961]

The Chemical brothers used to be called The Dust brothers.

Until the ' Real ' Dust brother's found them out and told
them to fuck off .

Apparently . . . . . .

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-04-09 11:53 [#00002964]

and the other difference is, The Chemical Brothers suck,
anyway Ambient ?? umm, try some Coil songs like "the Dark
River", and me : ) my song "Sleep" is alot like some stuff
of SAW2

I like SAW II A LOT, but I don't care for FSOL.

Try Brian Eno's Plateaux, which I have on vinyl and is quite
nice, SAWII reminds me of this album. I also hear Music For
Airports is pretty good.

Old school ambient...

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-23 21:52 [#00017418]

Uhm... wow this is an OLD OLD OLD topic I started! This was
when my name was AFXDUB! Shit! Hahah.

Ok well.. since then ive gotten into a lot of well good
stuff regarding ambient. IF you want the real shit... .
relaxed and not too weird. then go for William Orbit -
Pieces IN a New Style.

hevquip from an egren's coffee shop on 2001-07-23 22:08 [#00017422]

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-24 08:27 [#00017510]

Hm yes your english is better!... I could see how it can
improve from this board. Suprised you havet picked up some
colorful language along the way, the way this place is
going.

Leelia from u.s.a on 2001-07-24 08:34 [#00017519]

William Orbit and Brian Eno are kinda garbage.

:-\

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-24 09:21 [#00017525]

hehhe,.. "colorful" language

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-24 09:26 [#00017526]

(back to the topic)

some of the opposing force soundtrack is ambientish,..

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-24 09:27 [#00017527]

Thats a good soundtrack.

Why would William Orbit be crappy? thats your opinion. Make
it clearer. William Orbit is great stuff.
