I used to have a special brush that I used to clean my
records with, but it has recently been lost, and my records
are getting dirty, does anyone know of a "Jimmy fix" for
this,.. something that I can use from around the house to
clean my records with, because I'm not quite sure what is
safe to use and what is not.

man just go to your record shop and get some
anti-static-dust-wiper-thing or something...

otherwise try showering with your vinyl, make sure to use
enough shampoo on the scratches :D

Okay Refund, here come the tips by a record collector
extraordinaire (myself, that is):
1) Smear some toothpaste - not much - on the record and
start rubbing AGAINST - never along - the tracks.
2) If the record is merely dusty, you can use watersoaked
toiletpaper. Primarily rub against tracks, but along is okay
too.
3) I never tried this, but some guy once told me, that
ordinary dishwashing liquid will do nicely as well.
4) Buy yourself a machine called 'Nitty Gritty'. It´ll cost
you a pound (or 200!), but this device will make even new
vinyl sound more crisp. I do not know how...

So, get to scrubbing!
