nice mp3 player?

i'm currently using winamp3 for playing my files, the
problem is, that program really is shit. slow and annoying
and everything and it crashes every hour or so.
now, i can do nice compilations with it and the search
functions are pretty nice too. i gotta lot of files, all
sorted and so but keeping track of everything can be quite
difficult.
my question is, does anyone have a player with a good
library, where you can create your playlists and stuff just
as in winamp, but that works?
i got musicmatch for tagging purposes but that one is not
good for large libraries

I just stuck with Winamp 2.81, it's perfect. Didn't move up
to 3 because of the shit I heard about it.

Winamp 2 is pretty good. It's like winamp 3 without the
bloat and instability. They still maintain it with bugfixes
and such, probably for people who don't have the 3 gigahertz
processors and terabytes of ram that winamp 3 requires.

Play with it for more then 5 mins. It may take a little
getting used to but it's worth it IMO.

i have that one also. you can play songs nicely and
everything but functionality is pretty short. i liked the
features of wa3 but it takes like 5 min for startup and it
hardly ever does what i want

i use winamp 2.78 since its out and never had any problems,
even with huge filelists

winamp3 is fukked

as far as i know there isn`t a "better" tool than winamp,
especially when it comes to plug-ins and stuff

I'm the other way around me. I think every version of Winamp
blows. I've always preferred using Sonique. You can use all
kinds of plugins on that too but mostly everything you need
is there after the install. I hate Winamp but I must admit
that Sonique is very graphical which can cause problems
sometimes. Best way is to try both.

One of my favorite winamp plugins is the direct CD reader -
it reads digital data off your CDs right through the IDE
cables, instead of taking the signal through the wee wire
that goes from the CD drive to the sound card.

*grins* I never saw that. :>

Once you get used to it you can customise it in the many
ways. I'll only ever use Sonique.

Musicmatch is pretty good if you have a large collection of
MP3s, as you can organise them into genre/album/track
title/anything else you want really. I must admit though
that I have recently moved back to Winamp 2, as I got a bit
too obsessed with organising MP3s . . . Winamp 3 sucks shit.
