I heard there's an Aphex Twin album coming out next month.
Anyone know if it will feature the afx mix of "You can't
hide your love" by DMX? If so.. I'll buy it :)

you know, i'm really not looking forward to this
release :-o

I don't know what it is... but the thought of listening to a
bunch of remixes just puts me off. I imagine it will feel
very much like a "compilation" instead of an "album". Nice
to listen to once or twice, but not something you listen to
over and over.

Then again... his remixes of his own tracks (come to daddy)
hardly have anything to do with the original anymore ;-) And
i've heard several people say it'll be really good... and
ofcourse it is aphex twin. I'm gonna give it a good
listen anyway and hope that i'm wrong. But at this moment i
still feel very sceptical.

I get you:

we want a new album, we want new tracks, new music

"we want a new album, we want new tracks, new music"

yes and there's that too :-)
I want to see where he goes after druqks! Will he take the
same concept even further, or will he turn in a completely
new direction... these are exciting questions!

I have mixed feelings about this release too.
I think he'll amaze us all with mind-blowing remixes!

lol, well i haven't heard any of the tracks yet ;-)

(And yeah if i already had all these tracks i'd feel pretty
pissed off about the new compilation :-p Some people on this
board have probably been searching for years to get a
complete collection of all the remixes he did, and now he
releases this... lol.)

But i haven't... and i'm not particularly curious to hear
them either. Maybe it's because i used to listen only to
alternative rock music, that the thought of a remix doesn't
really appeal to me? I'd be much more excited if they were
new original compositions.

But i'm still trying to keep an open mind and to give the
26 mixes for cash an fair chance.

yeah, what I meant to say was:
I have mixed feelings about this release too.
I think he'll amaze us all with mind-blowing remixes, or
it'll be like most remix albums I've heard: a piece of
commercial shit!

I think any fan would like at least some of the remixes,
since they span practically his whole career and are of
different styles. Something for everyone...

(new compositions)....depends....lol...

yea at least is something

its my first release waiting, cos I knew aphex with drukqs,
so this is the first time I wait for one of his releases

my introduction to afx was CTD, but I heard it for the first
time when drukqs was already released, so it's also the
first release I'm waiting for.

true :-) I know one of the nin-remixes is an original
afx-composition.

And i'm also quite excited about the SAW II outtake.

But i actually fear inverted whale will be right... it's
going to be a mixed bag... "something for everyone"... i
prefer the cd's that are more consistent. I'll probably just
like a couple of the remixes, and not listen to this cd very
often.

Ofcourse i may still be wrong :-) I hope...

heh... i never thought of that... it is indeed also the
first time i am waiting for a new aphex-cd to be released
:-)

I'm much more looking forward to the new autechre though :-p
(also my first time waiting for an autechre-release). Even
though i prefer aphex twin, but draft7:30 is actually an
album.

If you get out of the album mentality, you'll probably enjoy
the remix album more! :-)

That said, I prefer listening to the remixes in
chronological order rather than the 26 mixes for cash order.
But that's why we have programmable CD players and
playlists.

yes ... but not for a little while. Do you mean the black

and white one.

no actually... altough it did get released after i got to
know autechre :-)

But i didn't want that to be my first autechre-cd...

When i eventually saw it in a store i did buy it (and it was
my first autechre-cd ;-))... but only because i wanted the
DVD, and i figured it would become rather hard-to-get in a
few months time.

"If you get out of the album mentality, you'll probably

"

hehe, yeah but i might enjoy other albums less ;-)

That said... i still haven't found the switch on my brain
that turns off the album-mentality :-p

I'll just have to wait and see it dissapears or not. And
i'll buy the remix-album anyway... it's just that i don't
think i'll enjoy it as much as his other releases.

"sounds like you are a little moaning and ungrateful to

ungrateful?

No... i wouldn't use that word.

I just stated that i am personally not looking forward to
this release.

I realise other people are, and i feel happy for them that
they are finally able to get their greedy little fingers on
all those remixes.
