So I finally hear "Vatican Nitez". Total, utter rubbish. A bland, forgettable, over-produced, coffee-table yawn from start to finish.
How on earth can some people prop this stuff? It's almost as bad as Morcheeba, or even a truly lame impression of Air, who are already bland in the first place.
Boring, boring music.

No sarcasm sorry. I had big expectations after some people's comments, but I have to say, if this is the future of electronic music, then it's all over.

you haven't listened to it enough obviously - it's relaxing but it's not boring tepid chillout shit like morheeba - it's got loads of character and lysergic eccentricity - comparing it to morcheeba just suggests you don't know what you are talkiing about and don't really have much of an ear for music

I a always amused by the idea that a personal opinion is all that matters. So if you find something shit then it obviously is. You comment that just because soeone swore it was obviously good well what makes you think that you opinion is any more valid than theirs?
I actually find myself humming GG's music more than any other electronic artists...and it has a sense of fun something that is missing in most art these days.

i think you have missed a massive aspect of listening to it and you haven't listened to it very well as you are way off the mark with your comparisons - maybe you are missing the hummability and quirky humour that ecnadniarb found in it .
also i don't think it's overproduced ? it's home made electronica - well produced m aybe ? it's not exaclty pink floyd or something

"You comment that just because soeone swore it was obviously good well what makes you think that you opinion is any more valid than theirs?" Nothing. it just happens to be my own opinion that what I've heard of his music is utterly mediochre and uninteresting. Sorry if i offended any friends of the 'artist'.

"also i don't think it's overproduced ? it's home made electronica - well produced m aybe ? it's not exaclty pink floyd or something" It is way overproduced, horrible, bland, preset-sounding stuff. I used to live with a woman who loved music like Ace of Base and Moby. She would love Global Goon.

i don't often say this but you're simply just wrong here - you should give it more of a listen before saying it's crap - i prefer it to stuff i consider blandd like boc .
there is also no need to start swinging your handbag around - maybe your approach is a little unrefined - esp as you have just bought the album and could'nt have given it many listens

Browsing through this forum just now, i note that many people have written scathing reviews of music that they truly hate. It's accepted on other threads, and there's nothing wrong with doing that.
So why are you reacting so strongly and swiftly to my criticisms of Global Goon? Are you the artist in disguise? Friends of the artist?

I find the music totally cliched and pointless. Simple as that. My comments aren't meant to offend your taste. It's just my perfectly valid point of view. I've listened to the Global Goon album several times and it gets more irritating with every listen.
Sorry if my words made you angry.

I think the simplicity is the point of his music...it's got a refreshing child like quality to it and it evokes a pleasant care free child like sense of well being..Actually it is characteristic of quite a few of the Rephlex bands...Bodenstandig2000, some of Cylob and Gentle People also comes to mind..not to mention Aphex and Melodies from Mars
BTW I like AIR as well...
