Any Req fans here?
I picked up his album "One" on Skint a while back..gorgeous
spraypaint cover art..and some interesting ambient hip
hop..like SAWII with lo tek beats..but the production is
very muffled..and dull..a shame since the actual content,
beats and ideas are quite good..

his next album Sketchbook came out on Warp last
year...anyone heard it?..is it any good? and how does it
compare with One..

Yeah, I picked up his debut a few months ago but haven't
given it a proper listen yet. He only used minimal equipment
so I guess that's why the production is not so hot. But I
did notice he'd been signed to Warp.

yeah I was aware of his lofi equipment..and was one of the
reasons i got interested but final product is usually taken
into a studio..so hmm..

but production aside..it's very good music..

Maybe Skint were throwing all their cash at promoting Fatboy
Slim.

ah ok..
anyway..Skint is good for Brighton and there's some awesome
shit commin out of Brighton Scene and getting exposure on
the strength of the Success of Fatso and Skint..(there was a
mini feature covering the scene in The Face)

Cristian Vogel, Tobias Schmidt, Jamie Lidel etc etcl..
so I am happy:)

The Face??? Bah, I never had you down as a clued-in yuppie
hehe.

Well, Skint had its most successful time in the days of big
beat about 5 or 6 years ago. But they've since signed Dave
Clarke and X-Press 2 so I think they've raised their profile
again and garnered some more respectability.
