Im having one of my off nights but I really wanted to get this topic through as hard as it may be to articulate.
It pisses me off bad when I see a track name changed from the artist's name to a dj who used the record on an album. Who is more deserving of praise here? lots of djs barely do shit to records but beat match them. Is it right that they become rich off other peoples hard work? I dont quite know myself what the piont is. Its just seems ridiculous sometimes to release mix albums. Often I dont see the difference from a mix album and a infomercial compilation. I guess I just dont get how some shit is able to be released sometimes, and how much a dj's ass can be kissed.

Well wouldnt it be more obvious that the Dj changed the track to more of his/her beat- some mix's are better then the actual track-you respect where the originality is, but you give praise to the one who mixed it just right
And if he/she did the track wrong them you send that fucker to hell.

I agree some djs just make it work. But if you looked at some American Djs I think it would clarify my point. Which is: look at this shit!!!!!

My best mate is a drum n bass DJ. It's tough shit but we both know that producing is "tougher" overall.
He's getgin back into producing (me and him used to both be FL heads before he stopped).
BUT mixing is more of a fun thing. Tons of our mates have shots on his decks and scratch andf shit (scratching isn't a smuch fun as I thought it would be, I've only ever really had a go of it liek 3 times, mixing is really boring to me).
He loves it though.
He has a bunch of my mp3s he wants to scratch to and beatmix etc hahaha

It is fun, but when I see Oakenfold(padon my french) mixing a kosheen track lets say. Its always "oooh oakenfold is the shit, I love his songs, look that group of girls over there, they are gonna suck his cock after the show, along with that group of sasha & digweed fans."

usually record companies pick one of their best djs to make a mix/compilation of their artists, i dont see any harm in that

remixes are ok... sampling without permission ... a little bad.

Im not trying to stir anyone. I dj on occasion, I dont feel Im at the level whered Id assign myself a cool call sign like Im a jet pilot or anything. But I get the feeling that what Im doing and what alot of djs are doing pales in comparison to what a lot of artists do. Maybe Im just feeling inadequate. Or maybe guilty about the admiration I sometimes get from spinning other people's handiwork.

...but honestly as long as you're having fun who cares if you're getting more adoration that you deserve?
