sometimes i have to watch rally or formula 1, just to please
them...
and its killing me...
i would like to understand this passion about cars..... but
its so strange for me...

I understand how cars work, and how to repair them, and fix
them up to some extent (adding an enhanced air intake, new
muffler, oil change, tire rotation, a minimal tune up), but
I drive a 4x4 86 toyota 4 runner, dirty and rusty and all
that good stuff that adds charecture to a car (hahahahaha).
I know some people who obcess and blow all their cash on
souping up their cars though, street racing is pretty
popular where I live, its all kinda silly IMO. But my
friends acura is a hot ride, fast as hell. I dont know, I
think its ok to some extent, but taking anything too
seriously is bad I think. Cars for me are just for
transportation, if I bought a zippier car I would probubly
trick it out a little bit, but I wanted to save my money to
get music gear....

;*)

cars suck
i'm 24 and i still don't have driver's license. I'm planning
on never getting a car! And also i don't want to own a
mobile telephone.

But i fear at some point in time the circumstances of my
life will force me to buy a mobile phone and maybe even a
car... but i'll delay it for as long as possible.

And i'll never like cars for sure... i'll only admit
they can be convenient, but i never had and never will have
a passion for them.

So yeah... i can relate.

Cars are waste of money and resources, but untill the
pricess of electric cars come down, or something better
comes along I am going to have to stick with what Ive got.

Having a car in the US is very important, public transit,
out side of new york, is horrible and unrelyable and places
are far away. I cant imagine getting around without a car,
thats why I bought one, it would be fucking impossible to
get around here without one. Back when I was in highschool I
rode my bike to school and didnt really have to travel that
much out of my home town, but now I have to commute to LA
and other places far away.

Only way you could manage to get around here is to be a kid
and have your mommy drive you around everywhere or bum
rides, or be lucky enough to have a job close to home.

I wish I could ride my bike to work, but thats like a 40
mile commute every day....

I think cell phones are awfull, the internet is a much
handier and way of communicating, instant messaging and
email. I think the messaging thing is funny as hell, because
when i see kids doing it I just say, why not just do that on
a computer, it doesnt cost you 1.00 per message...

a friend of mine only recently moved to Washington, to work
there for a year and the first thing he noticed was how
important cars are for Americans in a status-way: you are
nothing if you do not have some form of car.

when youn think of it, it is insane that there are still
cars. in more than a century's time, cars have hardly really
evolved. they still pollute. they still lead to an false
sense of freedom. if you ever catch me driving a car you can
shoot me

i do love formula 1 and rally though, hehe. a bit
hypocritical you might say, but i think the situation's
entirely different. closed circuit, only so many races per
year. it is much more regulated.

Travis Hates Car Culture... i went to an elite private high
school (ranked one of the top 5 in the US for academic
quality, not prestige.. it doesn't have a reputation as
being trendy for the children of powerful people to attend,
but it does attract the children of the mostly rich) and
that's all everyone talked about.. even our students
newspaper had 2 luxury sportscar articles per paper (and the
paper is just several pages long). so sick of cars. prolly
why at age 20 i don't have a driver's license. i have a
learner's permit for ID purposes and so i know how to drive.
another reason i don't have a license is its super
expensive: $250 driver's training (mandatory in my state),
plus $2000-4000/year car insurance cos i'm male and live in
a mostly racial minority and lower economic class county.
fuck the system.

want to hear something even more fucked up netlon.....

there is a man who made a series of tires so durable that
they could never wear, life long tires.... and it had been
testing and certified life long wear and right before the
man was going to sell them, ford bought the copyright and
the plans for something like 10 million dollars, and thanks
to ford motor corp., we have to keep buying ridiculously
overpriced tires that pollute.

fuck, I really want a solar cars to evolve and become
something usable that goes at least 50mph, solar power....
costs nothing, no way a 3rd party person can get filthy rich
from it, but noooo, we always have to have 3 parties profit
from something, ie hydrogen. Buy your hydrogen stock now
boys and girls. Stock tip for the day. Buy water stock and
hydrogen stock, things in this world are finite, and some
bastard is going to monopilize these things somehow.

I wonder how long before the oil runs out, you know people
in high places are going to milk the world before they move
on to hydrogen. I bet gas will be something lik 10 bucks a
gallon or some crazy thing like that... scientists dont even
know for sure if the oil is finite or not.

Of course oil is not finite. It comes from decaying organic
matter. That it takes thousands or millions of years to form
is a minor inconvenience.

When the oil starts to run out the Bush family and others
will have themselves frozen until such time as more oil
forms.

hehe

;*)

At the rate we extract oil fleetmouse, we meaning people ALL
over the world, I think it has to be coming out at the pace
of a small trickle 50 years from now.

Everything, if you look at it, is finite in some way or
another. Air, water, oil, food, everything is intwined in a
delicate balance, if something is taken or added to the
equation, it will be gone

I love fast cars.

My best friend's family is rich and I get to drive all his
dad's cars.
ex:
-Ferrari ( maranello, modena spyder, f60, enzo, etc)
-Lamborghini diablo, countach
-Dodge Viper
-Aston Martin ( db7, vanquish)
-etc

They're so much fun, especially while listening to some
upbeat d&b or techno ( sasha)

"

in the netherlands things are much better. I think (even
though at some days you wouldn't think it...) we even have
the best public transportation system in europe... or was it
even the world? Don't remember.... but fact is you can get
just about anywhere by train, tram, subway and bus. Even the
smallest town with a population > 100 in the middle of
nowhere usually gets a bus to stop there several times a
day.

"Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman

You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Anyplace is better
Strating from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

I remember we were driving
driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be
someone

You got a fast car
And we crusing to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know thing will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs

You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at night
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

always late, unreliable & dirty

i hate those petrol heads (usually to be found at parties

mental hospital to avoid the Great Red Army. I hate cars
anyway. They're waaay too big for one person, and imagine
all the spare space we waste, the streets are getting
narrower because of the cars, damn cars. And the smoke and

I've been hit by a car 2 times, believe me, it sucks. It'd

people are annoying enough on foot.. the last thing they
need is a big deadly machine to drive around..

having said that, the only reason i have a car is because my

I drive a saab but avoid driving it when its not necessary.
always buy used cars, no point in not buying cars used
because if you buy a new car it just gives them more $ to
use to make more polluting pieces of shit and it continues
the chain. what im saying is if you have to have a car get
it used so they dont get wasted. buying new cars when
theyre not necessary is stupid. i also hate driving and
seeing all the gas in the winter, it makes me want to hold
my breath the whole time im outside driving. if only i
could ride my bike everywhere, im too lazy to do that, when
im older hopefully i'll use either public transportation or
a bike of some sort.
