I just got a new computer and canibalised my old one,.. but
I can only get one of my old hard drives to work in the new
one, and the one that doesn't work has all of my useful
information on it (icq aim ftp and mirc data)

I've tried all the different settings and I can't get it to
work as slave OR master,.. any ideas on what could be wrong?

ermm,.. yeah,.. I think I'll go on irc instead,. it was a
desperation question,. but I think I just sovled it

I think I'm going to get the drive working on another
computer and copy everything across via lan,.. there's 5
computers here at the moment,.. it has to work on one of
them

check the jumpers settings in the back of your drive. Only
one master + one slave on each ATA bus.

yeah,. if I set it up as either it just disables everything
on that particular ATA bus.

I'll just have to wait until someone stops playing wcIII and
nick there computer for an hour or so
