just got back from this gig. Arranged by a member of Pulp (not Jarvis) - big Warp contingent playing.
Gig was good, venue was cool (big disused power station, now a museum), but was bloody freezing.
Saw a guy called Jamie Liddel (at least I think that was his name, he played from 11:00 till ~ 12:30 on the Warp stage)....
this guys rocks live! he blew the place apart - pure talent!!!!!
He'd start by singing, in a soulful style (with an excellent voice), then sample a quick loop of his voice, then sing again into an effected mic, sample again (making a bassline type sub-melody) then twist it, and crack it up.... he rocked!!!!
check this guy out live if you can - trust me..... he had no pre-prepared tracks, just a few beats from a beatbox, and a few FX settings, all the rest was kicked out there and then - pure class.
anyone know if his released stuff (if he has any?) sounds the same - cos I'd buy the lot!!!
peace.

I was there too...
Caught the end of Jamie Liddel... he was wicked (although he had a few feedback issues)...
The Warp stage looked amazing. In fact the whole place looked amazing... like some sort of Blade Runner set (except it was all real!), I would advise anyone in the area to check it out sometime. It is a truely awesome building.
The night as a whole was... a bit rubbish. There were supposed to be 3000 odd people there, but there were only 2 makeshift bars, that had run out of beer by the time we got to the bar (about 11pm), and only sold dodgy alcopops. The venue is a massive and very open old steel works... which meant that it was FUCKING COLD almost everywhere.
This, and the lack of booze, made a large portion of the 3000 crowd leave before 12.
Music - Pulp (last gig ever (maybe)... who cares?) played a good set, although I don't really see the connection between Pulp and the rest of the acts.
Royksopp - good... but not very good. Lemon Jelly - Very good, despite the weird stage arrangement.
Thats all I remember...

yeah, he had some feedback probs at the end, but all was fine up until then (who was the wierdo messing about with the projection unit on stage??!!)
yeah, the booze problem always happens at Warp gigs in my experience - it was the same at the Lighthouse party at the Electowerks in Docklands.

overall it was a bit shite..... if I hadn't stumbled across Jamie Liddell.. I'd be a bit pissed off, but he made up for it.
