to Gantz Graf.

i don't think that's its copyrighted.

copyright law does not apply to enteractive music.

offline Cfern from Sacto (United States) on 2002-12-08 21:17 [#00473744]
Points: 1384 Status: Lurker

in fact i know it's not copyrighted... how can one
copyright music that doesn't exist yet? it makes no sense.
if lazyfish cared he wouldn't realease it to the public.

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2002-12-08 22:24 [#00473858]
Points: 4130 Status: Addict

Its simple really... the origional sounds were made by
lazyfish right? and the origional track was copyrighted...
the program was made by lazyfish.... so....

when you add two and two... you get

four right?

*hops in hot air balloon*

WOOOOSLE WOOOZIE WEEEEE!

yes but how could it be proven?? It couldn't, theres no
fucking way..

ps i believe lazyfish himself intended people to use it as
they see fit..

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2002-12-08 23:08 [#00473921]
Points: 4130 Status: Addict

Actually proving it would be no problem at all.... if you
notice... though out the song there is a ambient drone
throughout the whole track (making getting certain sounds to
themselves, bass kicks, snares.. and whatnot impossible
without some background drone)... and only certain drums
sounds are being used... but whatever. I dont think its very
cool to use other peoples samples and what not.

sure you THINK lazyfish meant for people to use it however
they want....

the only person that knows for SURE would be lazyfish.

Either way it doesnt bother me.... because
A) I am in a hot air balloon
B) I dont dig sampling other people
C) I dont care either way
Yay!

*continues to float in hot air balloon*

ya but you would actually have to prove that to a jury
beyond a reasonalbe doubt... i'm saying its not so clear
cut..

"are you a lawyer? or do you have a label? "

Actually I took a lot of buisness classes and classes
pertaining to copyright law in college and my dad deals with
copyright problems all the time, being a photographer.

"ya but you would actually have to prove that to a jury
beyond a reasonalbe doubt... i'm saying its not so clear

who knows... I have seen stranger things happen in court

I dont know..I seem to be in agreement with Mickey but
also..if you records sections from it.(there's no direct
output function)..and..process and mutate them enough to
render them unrecognizable (right now I agree with Mickey
they are)
then I dont see a problem...

It's just that from my experience, people recommend very
different things based on their own personal reasons for
liking music, and it's useless to go by anyone's
recommendations unless you know a bit about their tastes.
I'll try that cat album someday.

"sorry guys.. interactive songs are not protected by us

If not protected by copyright (of some kind) then its
intellectual property of the maker. I think it would be easy
to show a jury this. I say its CREATED by someone else, all
sounds MADE by someone else.... moving around some tempo
controls and tracks postitions doesnt change the fact that
all sounds are comming from someone else who made
everything. Unless you mash it up with some dsp or
something... but whatever

I am going to drop lazyfish an email and see what he says
about this. Curious to see what he says

SONGS ABOUT MY CATS! I think its exactly what w M w is
looking for. Its bizzare and great!

w00t!

hahaha, you got to aquire a knowlage of synthesis and sound
programming. Its takes a while to figuere it out. You cant
just learn reaktor in a day. I suggest the book. And reading
all the info and turitals online you can find.

If it wasnt hard..... everyone would be using it
