The most impressive tune you've ever heard

offline AphexAcid from Sweden on 2002-12-06 18:18 [#00471639]

I want to hear some music, so what's the most impressive
tune you've ever heard? Doesn't have to be the best, just a
tune that impresses you; that made you go "wow, damn it, I'm
in heaven."

years back right up till stuff I just discovered:

Kyuss - 'Catamaran'

Turin Breaks - 'Underdog'
Everclear - 'Heroin Girl'
Kerbdog - 'JJ's Song'
Meshuggah - 'New Millinenium Cyanide Christ'
BoC - 'Telephasic Workshop'

Hm... I think Ventolin is one of his most impressive
tracks.

In response to the subject : almost everything I have heard
by Merzbow.

Some particual track you were thinking of by Merzbow,
Dariusgriffin? I've heard a couple of "tunes" by him.
Masonna's even more agressive, I'd say. Heard Inner Mind
Mystique? That sure as heck's some phuqqed up material ^_^

That whole album just fookin' screams ''perfection''.

I'd say either Rhubarb by Aphex Twin, Eleanor Rigby by some
band whose name eludes me at the moment, and the Voyage in
Another World map theme from Chrono Cross.

Groove Armada "Remember"
Interpol "NYC"
Autechre "Vtermix 21" or however you spell it
The Faint "Casual Sex"
Bjork "It's In Our Hands[Arcade Mix]"
Basement Jaxx "Acid Luv"
Dot Allison "Message Personal Mix"
Maximilian Hecker "Infinite Love Song"

Can't go wrong with any of these tunes.

NYC is amazing, by far my favorite! Obstacle 1 is also
great, and PDA. NYC is nice and ballady, the latter two are
balls-out rockers.

I don't see why this band is compared to Joy Division so
much.

Interpol and Maximilian Hecker are my favorites right now...
both are not immediate groups you like, but they get better
and better with every listen.

NYC is the shit

Maximilian Hecker is not like Interpol... more chill/mellow
but WORTH the listen. His lyrics and voice are amazing. If I
created music his album would be mine.

i'm curious about the JD comparison myself cos i haven't
heard any interpol yet. a friend of mine who knows a ton
about music refers to them as a new band who sound exactly
like joy division; i'm sure that's a stretch, and my friend
doesn't listen to that much JD, but there's probably some
truth to that.

well I can hear the comparisons too.. but they do have their
own sound going..

greatest thing about Interpol is their INTENSITY. all their
music is INTENSE.

Actually, I kind of retract my statement... I hear
Division-ness in there, but it's the ''they sound exactly
like them'' thing that irks me (like your friend said).
They're not rip offs, but I guess they ''feel'' like Joy
Division... same emotional depth. They've got their own
style, though.

i'm sure they're a cool band. it's this stuff that
pisses me off, cos they're direct rip-offs (not even trying
to hide it).
