me neither but some late 70s to early 80s punk is off the
hook, such as the clash, joy division, the buzzcocks, the
circle jerks, and TSOL. the only punk band to come out since
then that's impressed me has been fugazi.

the damned have been around for ages, i never did hear grave
disorder but actually heard it was good. joy division punk?
right... anyways your forgetting Wire as one of the best
older bands, theyre also still releasing stuff, theyve put
out 2 out of 3 new eps so far this year.

yea, there're some good bands i left out. joy division
toured with and were promoted by the buzzcocks, and they're
basically just stripped down, slowed down punk with a
different lyrical agenda

So, tits... punk wise, heres what I rate: (Just for fun, but
you might like some of these)

Pistols (forget the hype, just listen to nevermind)
The Clash - some of it... London Calling era
Black Flag - The best US punk band in my opinion, just raw
power and crazy lyrics
Dead Kennedys - Wow, Jello's lyrics blew my mind when I
first heard them, still do
Bad Brains - Amazing, I Against I is a must have I reckon
UK Subs - Verging on the pub rock here but if theres a
british Black Flag it's these guys. Tomorrow's Girl, CID,
Party in Paris, Live in a Car - punk classics
The Slits - Came out of punk but really 3 white girls trying
to make reggae. The album "Cut" is very good, naive and
strong at the same time
PiL - Lydon & Jah Wobble make evil dub dance, John sounds
like a 303

theres more but i'll save that for the book

bad brains are awesome, all their early material ie st,
black dots, i against i etc are awesome but theyre later
material is awful. black flag is also good but most punk
bands arent that great though.

i see what you mean kinda about joy division and punk, its
possible to make arguments for any band\artist that is not
necessarily what most call "punk rock" but it could be just
as "punk" such as a lot of idm artists or like godspeed you
black emperor etc. if you catch my drift

Blitz - Voice of a Generation

best punk album ever

sounds like it was played on military equipment not musical
instruments

the only thing godspeed and idm have in common w/ punk is
attitude, while joy division actually came out of and made
punk rock music (like it or not). you must have some
negative connotations with the word punk but there's not
much else i can say, i already explained why they made punk
and i highly doubt they ever attached any high-concept label
to themselves like "post-punk" or "goth rock" or any
nonsense like that.
