I'm going to see v/vm tonight (in about an hours time...).
I've burnt some demo cd-rs and I'm going to try to give them
to him. They have my email address written on them...

If he throws it into the crowd w/o listening to it, I will
frisbee the other one at him.

Worst that can happen is he can get me thrown out :P

Results here tommorow unless I wind up in casualty. Wish me
luck :)

Ergh... They played christmas music cut up with D n B... I
threw a demo CD-R at James Kirby... it hit him in the
stomach. He ignored it. None of the people in the club
seemed to care. I'm not sure if he picked it up, but it
wasn't on the floor. I later threw another CD-r at him. He
saw it was me and started throwing records at me. A 7"
smashed on the chair behind me. I caught a 12" I have it
with me now. I don't know what it is, it just has 2 K's back
to back... I will play it tommorow to find out what it is.

I held the vinyl in my teeth and jumped up and climbed up a
new yourk style fire escape up the side of the building.
After sitting on the roof alone for a bit I went home. Some
girls accosted me in the street and tried to talk me into
going to a D n B night in a club nearby, but I declined as
I have work tommorow (well, today...)

That last paragraph happened after v/vm left the stage BTW.

As an aside, there were lots of people with afx/warp/ninja
tunes t shirts and hoodies there as well as a lot of chin
strokig pseudo-intellectuals.

Oh, and if you think my behaviour was obnoxious, V/vm
trashed the joint- they smashed up christmas decorations,
mic stands, threw lights about etc. I spoke to people who
worked at the club afterwards and they shouldn't of done it
apparently. Still there was a raffle and one bloke I talked
to won a cabbage signed by v/vm..

He was lying on the floor at the time, when it hit him he
didn't move. It looked like he'd passed out from jumping
around too much :)

One of the speakers blew and caught fire. There was a 4/5
year old kid running around the club.

The vinyl I got (and is now in my record bag) has silver
spray paint on it. I'm going to email James Kirby and ask
him if he got/played the cd. Results to follow...

i was at a simillar event in school back in 1999 actually.
there was like this talent show in and some bands where
playing and two of my friends signed themself up with their
preformance group "soffgrupp 1a". after all the other bands
had played some functionarys brought in a table full with
breakfast stuff. cerials, bread, milk, coffe etc.. the music
started (melow electronica at first) and the two emerged
from their hiding places behind the sence dressed in morning
gowns (word?). so they sat themselfs at the table and
started eating, looking real sleepy. after about one minute
they started arguing a bit beacuse one of them refused to
pass the milk to the other one so they started to throw food
at eachother. the music changed to some wierd
electronica/industrial remix of frank sinatras new york, new
york (all the music was done by the them). the food fight
got worse and worse and eruopted in violence and suddenly
one of them took up an big axe he had hidden under his coath
and starts to smash the table up and food just splatters on
the stage and all the instruments and some teachers. they
continue trashing stuff until they get thrown of the stage
by our principal. it was good fun :)
they didnt win sadly enough..

Sounds like fun :)

For such a lo-fi club, the pre gig visulaisations were
incredible- multiple projectors layering images on top of
each other and also lip synching sections of christmas
carols to bits of the film, "The nightmare before
christmas". Very good.

The people outside were boring me. I thought it would be a
good way to get away from them and also have a decent view
from high up. Quite funny, trying to climb a rickety old
ladder, holding a 12" vinyl in your teeth whilst you're
hammered...

V/VM is a duo who make all "their" music by just remixing
other peoples without permission and usually then try to
pass it of as their own.

Probably most famous for the "Help Aphex Twin" remixes.

I just realised the first track on the demo CD-R I burnt was
missing 90% of the samples... there are long expanses of
silence on it. Not so good considering it was the opening
track.

I still haven't heard back from them...

BTW, as an aside to the original story, I managed to find a
copy of the record that he threw at me in a bargain bin in a
record shop at the weekend. Can't remember who it's by
(someone I'd never heard of). I should of bought it as it
was only a £1 and it sounds like strobing would work on it.
It's a DnB record, but sounds best at 33rpm with the pitch
down 10%, much nicer :)

Good show chaps,

Particularly liked the speaker blowing and catching alight
and also the improv use of the santa head in the dance.
Apologies for hitting James in the stomach with that cd. I
meant to throw it over him (he was lying down), but it fell
short. Did you get the disc? I didn't see it on the stage
afterwards... Thanks for throwing the 12" at me (returning
the favour? ;) ) I still have it and will be giving it a
play tonight. I can see why you said it was one for the
ladies :)

I climbed up the fire escape ladder and onto the roof of the
club afterwards. Great fun :)

Cheers,

Ceri.

***From v/vm***

yeah i got the disc no worries-
i never comment on other peoples work,, just keep sending
stuff through when you're happy with it -- it all gets
listened to , and if i think soemthing can fit into a
project i'm doing i'll let you know-
glad you enjoyed the show-- the speaker smoking was the best
part,, that and the plastic bag snow i was choking on --
