I am talking about the
Planet of The Apes
Movie by Tim Burton..I chose not to see it til now because I
beleive the whole Planet of The Apes franchise to be a
reactionary white man's paranoid fever dream about the
coloured people usurping their hold on the World..especially
with Mr. NRA at the helm..
but on the other hand I have seen each and every thing Tim
Burton has ever done..so I relented and agreed to borrow the
VCD of it..and have been trying to watch this since
yesterday..I have barely managed to get half way through
it..I seem to need to stop the movie every 10 minutes or
so..simply because it's so boring and bad..characters are
poorly realized..they have ambigous motivations..and their
actions are consistently inconsistent and incoherent...even
the famed Production Design is mostly wasted because so much
of the film was needlessly set and shot in the Dark..
feh..
what was Burton thinking!

wow.. I never thought of the movie in that way, but it
certainly can come across as quite racist/paranoid

I always just thought it was a cheesy 'B movie', and I don't
care for Heston much either

flea,

Whats this white man business? Your reading too much into
it. God people seem to get away with blue murder. White man
this white men that. Your being racist if you ask me.

You have to see Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. It makes
explicit exactly the theme you're talking about. An
intelligent ape from the future starts an ape revolution. I
don't want to spoil it but there are religious and political
overtones thick enough to cut with a knife. Check it out!

O yeah, and everyone I know says the same thing about Tim
Burton's ape movie: a stylish mess of shit. Hence, I avoid
it!

As Charlton Heston said in rehearsals, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF
ME YOU DAMN DIRTY NIG... uh... APE!"

whoah..something very peculiar..I just saw the scen where
they reach Kalima..which is like a sacred ruin..and the
ruins kinda look identical to the twin towers wreckage they
keep showing with a few bent frames still standing..
very creepy..

I mean, no about the Heston thing. You should still see
Conquest because it elaborates on the whole race deal with
the apes.

Charlton Heston is a biggot. Did you see him in Bowling for
columbine? He was like "This country was founded by a group
of ol white men....."

"Well I think the reason we have so many problems with guns
are americas... erm... diversity.... ethnicity..."

That movie showed what a total idiot the man was.... scary
to see really

This movie being made when it was made, I wouldnt be
surprised if the screen writer was somewhat racist.

hehe..I thought Heston was bit too cunning for that..
but gimme the gist of it..I am not likely to willingly
watch Conquest of Plantet of the Apes..

One of the main themes of Planet of the Apes is racism
though, that's the whole point of it; it's meant to get you
thinking about race & how we treat those different from
ourselves...

I don't think it's a racist movie in itself, that's kinda
missing the point...

I think you are talking about Piere Boulle's novel..which
was meant to be a satire..but the execution of the film..the
way you are supposed to root for Heston's characterand his
heroic antics..is actually the movie missing the whole point
of the novel..
