Hey guys. I'm building a new PC and I want a good sound card with a 5inch front panel for the connections, A real Soundcard for music production not that Sound Blaster shit. What would the best one to go for be? I'm hoping to buy it on-line in English £'s but $'s would be ok too. I remember seeing one in a topic (maybe Junkie was showing me?) that I fell in love with but I can't remember it. Anyway some help would be good. I'll pay anything up to £200 for one but if I can get it cheaper that would be a nice bonus.
Also just for if you are interested the case I'm using for my new PC will be from QuietPC.com as I want this machine to be ultra silent. I'm sick of the sound of my PC messing with the work I do. I was looking around this site and they seem to be able to offer the solution I require, I'm looking forward to updating my PC as my last one is ratty and clunky as hell after years of dragon abuse.
Oh, I'd like a good Mic too as my current projects involve me barking mad vocals and my other Mic just is not up to it. Thanks in advance for any help and information you can give me.

my sound card is horrible,
I filter my sound though 2 separate stereos, but if you don't set things right, you get an annoying high pitch "ventolin" esque sound

phantom power is on your mixer if you have one, otherwise you need a mic preamp that includes phantom power.

maybe your soundcard will have phantom power - itll mean your background noise level will be very low :)

phantom power is basicly extra power through the mic, so noise get's filtered out in some way

I don't have a mixer. My music is very very basic. I have loads of equipment to buy but I'm trying to keep it as real to myself as possible. I'm building up from ground level here. }:>
I still use a BBC Micro *grins* I make that my mixer, It's law now as dragon said so.

Can you perform the same types of environmental audio effects with the DMX 6fire as you can with the Audigy Platinum? The soundblaster has some nice progs with it.

You know what. I'm not gonna be tricked again. I'm gonna go for the DMX 6fire. Creative can lick my nuts. If I want the environmental audio affects I can use my old PC for that. I just fear that the sound card will go to waste in my paws. I have no intention of trying to replicate AE when I have my own style and my own style for years has been determined by using out of date equipment and turning it into something new as possible. However, I'll go for the DMX. I bet my Micro can be made to sound great on that. }:>
Now I need a new tracker. If anyone can help me with this also it would be very nice.
