I just tried a search and you're right- this particular
thread is very hard to find, sorry for snapping at you.

Saw CTD on MTV2 post club one night...

i knew rdj's music for a long time, but never really got
into it, but then i read this short note on yokotas album

"one of the most gifted producers on the planet... the early
works of Eno and Aphex Twin have been joined on their
pedestal"

after i read this i decided to check all rdj's music i could
find and since then im totally into it

But I was exposed to a mix CD that had CTD on it... the rest

I listened a lot to "regular electronic music" (Fluke)
before afx or any IDM. On AG where I downloaded the tracks
it said that other users listened to Aphex Twin so I started
to download some of RDJ's tracks. The rest is history.

my first counscious contact:

I am a newbie... I saw at amazon that the electronic album
of 2001 was drukqs ... (I was really searching for some trip
hop new releases)

[really it was back in 1998 when I saw the RDJ album in a
shop, I read the review about it (they had it on the shop)
but I didnt pay much attention.]

my first purchase:

the first time: 7- jan - 2002
after seeing that in amazon, some weeks later I was at a big
cd shop and I saw drukqs, I knew I had seen it somewhere
else, so I bought it...

two months later I had 14 original releases by aphex...

my real first idm purchase was lp5 (ae) in 98, but I gave it
back to the shop... I thought : "what is this??", later that
year, I bought MHTRTC, but I knew nothing about IDM, it was
just casualty... I liked it though, but never till I bought
druqks did I investigate about BOC
